Was the original title for the album that became “The Beatles” and soon after the “White Album”

There was a band called A Doll’s House wasn’t there? Early 80s?
Are you perhaps thinking of the rather excellent Doll By Doll as set up by Jackie Leven – my favourite release being the album Grand Passion in 1982, with the Klimt Kiss on the cover?
No I don’t think that’s it. I might be thinking of A House – an Irish band. But I have a niggling feeling that there was an indie band. The internet leads me to an American combo but it’s not them.
I know them – I have a couple of their 90s albums up in the top left hand shelf, close to the ceiling – a difficult to categorise band, with wildy differing styles from one track to the next. Must give them another spin one of these days!
Sorry – are you referring to the American band or the one I’m trying to recall from the early 80s?
A House. Nearly had a hit album with I am the Greatest which nearly had a hit single Endless Art. Very good

Apols, I’ve only just spotted your question – I’m talking about the Irish band called A House.
Being shelved alphabetically, they are right up there in the very top left. A hint to their unusual name, I’d thought.
I have their LPs ‘I Want Too Much’ and ‘I Am The Greatest’, both of which are rather fine. However, I don’t think I have ever actually met anyone else who owns their work!

Well, yeah, perhaps Foxy means “apart from those two groovy AWers”.
I saw them supporting The Blue Aeroplanes at the Junction and bought the tour merch split 7″ single “I Will Never Forgive You” b/w “Top Of The Pops” (The Smithereens song, not the one by The Rezillos). That was a good gig.

No A Certain Ratio records then? Me neither.
The closest I get to A Certain Ratio on record is Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy)!
Is the space considered a wildcard of lower value than an ‘A’? I think my LPs go ABBA, ABC, A Certain Ratio, and my CDs go A C R, ABBA, ABC. Whatever, I can find them, which is the important thing.
Top left of my vinyl shelves begins like this:
A House, A House, A Split Second, ABC, Abrahams, Absalom……
So where would you guys file 10cc or 801? Pre- or post-alphabet? Or some other solution? Treat it as a theoretical problem if you don’t own any “numbers” bands!

Interesting – I note that my computer sorts numbers after Z, in numerical order.
I have the album ‘Wide Eyed And Ignorant’ which is pretty good. It contains the UK smash (No. 37 according to Wikipedia) ‘Here Come The Good Times’. Top left alongside A-Ha and Abba as per the rules. The only ones preceeding them are 10cc, because they are not filed under ‘T’.

Is it odd that bands with an A ahead their name: A House, A Certain Ratio, A Flock of Seagulls, get filed under A, whereas The Beatles, The Kinks, The Yes don’t get filed under T. Altho’ I wonder where people put Julian Cope’s old band?
An oldfriend who was working in a record shop at the time arranged mine by catalogue number. I couldn’t find a bloody thing.
I have a few “forrin” LPs in the Kallax. The Beatles are in ‘B’ but Les Negresses Vertes are in the ‘L’ section. I know…
Out of interest, Swedish band, Les Big Byrd, is Les the diminutive name or the French denominative?

Yes some of them for sure, but I think a more interesting listening experience than just randomly placing outtakes willy nilly on a disc.
