So much to talk about, so little time.
2108 summed up in 1 hour 45.
Sorry I missed it, but not sure I would’ve/could’ve added much to it (apart from sounding like Father Fitzgerald)
Next time Digit.
Sorry I missed it as well.
Family issues took over on the day.
Well that was marvellous. Thanks for the Podcast recommendations though I’ve been trying to avoid getting sucked into too many for precisely the reason Twang identifies – it’s either podcasts or music; there isn’t enough time for both.
And I enjoyed the upbeat evaluation of the Blog at the end. It remains a great place to be and I echo the thanks expressed for all involved.
And thanks for the Podcasts Twang – looking forward to more next year.
Cheers BB. Glad you enjoyed it as much as we did!
It’s traditional that someone is drunk on the end of year podcast. Any guesses who it was this year?
If anyone has, like me, been reticent about joining in on a Podcast, bite the bullet and give it a go. I thoroughly enjoyed doing it and didn’t even cringe too much listening back to myself (although that could just be my massive ego).
Interestingly, when I listened to it, there were bits I didn’t remember hearing when we recorded it!
Great podcast. I do have an idea for a new year’s podcast, whom should I pm?
Yes deffo. PM me.
Well done, chaps. If you ever do a “Bosscast” I would be interested. The 5 hr time difference may make that difficult though. And of course I would never listen to it unless you told me all my stuff had been edited out.
I’d be well up for a bosscast!
Or, indeed, a Van Cast!
Ooh yes
Brilliant. Contact Twang
Here’s a question.
Does anyone like the sound of their own voice on podcasts?
Be it podcasts or my own radio show I did for 10 years I always cringe.
No.
But, let’s face it. Ainsley sounds beautiful. 😍
I think all my guests sound beautiful. My voice makes me cringe though.
I recommend a Shure SM58 microphone for minimising the miserable-Cocker-knee-wan’er-in-a-cave effect. It unfortunately doesn’t entirely remove it, however.
I used to be an SM58 guy but I’m a AT4033 guy now since I set up a desk anglepoise mic setup. It’s the source that’s the problem not the mic.
I bought one of these a few years ago (in a hurry) for recording announcements “Welcome to the British Chipboard Federation annual dinner” sort of thing. Mixed reviews on Amazon but it’s been fine for speech and apart from changing PC settings is really easy, plug and play. Maplin house brand, cheap and cheerful. I was dubious but pleasantly surprised.
In stark contrast to how I actually look
Lovely erudite enthusiasms elicited. Tigger speaks in the same sentence formation as he writes: no statement goes unresearched or unexplained. Wonderful.
That’s very kind of you. Inside my head, it feels exactly the opposite.
Tig gives good pod.
Enjoyed this on my commute back from work today. My already digitally addled brain now further overloaded by the many albums and podcasts that I should be listening to. Im just glad you didn’t cover TV box sets !
Really enjoyed this chaps and would be happy to be involved one of these days. Well done to all involved.
If you’d like some personal feedback, its probably a little long for a podcast. For me 45 minutes is about optimum with an hour max. I blame that bloody Kermode and Mayo for normalising 2 hours plus. (Ironic that kermode complains that any film over 90 minutes is too long but is happy for his podcasts to require an interval)
Personally I prefer to avoid the politics on this site and so its inclusion in the podcast is a turn off for me but each to their own, and admitedly the “B” word is hard to ignore even here.
Thanks again, it sounds like you had a blast making it.
Couldn’t realistically do a roundup of the year and omit that particular can of worms.
A pretty good job was made of rounding up the year just gone, I thought. Well done.
Thanks both, yes it got in on the “too big to ignore” ticket – generally I’d agree though.
As far as length is concerned, we thought about cutting it in half but in the end it didn’t split neatly in the middle. Generally under an hour is good.
The excellent Chart Music podcast is pushing 4 hours these days!
Something to aim for then!
I’m sure we can manage it.
Only if El Hombre gets a bigger bottle of brandy…
Might need an assistant to prod him awake occasionally over 4 hours.
Enjoyed. Thank you. New Year resolution: get more involved with blog!
Finally had time to sit down and listen to this (mainly thanks to managing to chop off the tip of my thumb while preparing dinner, so can’t do much else right now… 😀 ).
I do enjoy these mixed bag conversations better than the themed ones, where you either like or loathe the subject, but it’s probably easier to make themed podcasts. Either kind; glad you’re continuing to make them!
Thanks Locust. The recent ones, ie since they restarted, all came from member’s suggestions. I agree though, more general rambles would be good. Fancy joining in?
Umm…no! 🙂
Thanks for asking but definitely not!
Any chance of listing the podcast recommendations? Some were familiar to me, others not so much.
