Why have we gathered on this mountainside at this ungodly hour as the cold winds of winter whip around our ears? To talk bullshit of course.
DFB, Mr Ganglesprocket and not a real Dr Volume beat the January blues by catching up with life as we know it.
With his http://recordshopcity.co.uk/ hat on the Dr gives latest report on whether we have reached peak vinyl. We discuss the New Years Honours List, the lovely Bongo and equally saintly Marc.
We discuss pop conformity, bands who try new directions, success , failure and Scott Engel
Part 2 will feature Joni Mitchell critique and whether we really need to measure music in 12 month chunks but for now, thank you for listening

Can I be the first to say “Hurrah!”?
DogFacedBoy says
No, there isn’t time
DogFacedBoy says
Mr Ganglesprocket had a hand in making this happen
Moose the Mooche says
The last film I saw at the pictures was 30 Century Man. There were five of us in the auditorium. It was ace.

This just in from our pal Sir Les, the Australian Cultural Attache, a keen Podcast consumer:
“Fuckin’ A guys, keep them coming. Mine’s a large one if you’re going to the bar.”
minibreakfast says
What took you so long?
(Only kidding. Hurrah, that’s tonight’s listening sorted.)
ganglesprocket says
Dear God. I say “You know” and “that kind of thing” an awful lot.
I also think I need to do one of these things sober.
God help us all, me on Joni Mitchell is still to come. I genuinely have tried with her folks…
Gary says
Perv. They must be, like, well old.
The Good Doctor says
I genuinely didn’t know you were supposed to try!
The Good Doctor says
This wouldn’t have happened without DFB doing the heavy lifting which, even after he’s assembled a panel of chatty bastards at the same time, then has to get everyone patched into Skype at once (notoriously fiddly), then gently move the conversation along in line with the agenda, occasionally getting to speak himself, and once it’s all in the can – he’s got to seamlessly edit the thing. I know where the edits come and he’s managed to make some bits I’m sure I fluffed, work perfectly in ‘Post’. We’re not done yet…then he’s got to fly in stings and music clips and then upload it, write a blurb and do all the social media stuff
A lot of well known Podcasters of course have someone else to do all this for them, so hats off and a ripple of applause for DFB ladies and gentlemen..
Moose the Mooche says
Ooohhh, you said “patched”…. like something out of 24!
ganglesprocket says
Ditto from me. I’ve done a few, and it’s labour intensive stuff. Not from me mind, just from the puppy boy…
DogFacedBoy says
See, I feel guilty about quoting Bono right under your nose now.
The Afterword Podcast – a bantz free zone
Ainsley says
I know I always say this, but I love the podcast – it’s really nice to hear “non-professionals” talking about subjects that they love.
I’ve no idea how many people end up listening but long may it continue, however occasionally that might be.
Billybob Dylan says
Hear hear!!
grac says
Enjoyed that. Now get the Joni Mitchell one posted. Sharpish!
dai says
Well done chaps. Couple of points, Miss You comes from The Stones’ punkiest record (Some Girls) and they had already got very funky on the previous one (Black and Blue).
Also I choose to believe that Scott Walker could sing anything he wants he just (mainly) chooses not to. Not that recent I guess but certainly well past Tilt (1999).
DogFacedBoy says
That’s why I put that clip of I Threw It All Away from 1996 in there as a riposte to Mr G’s assertion that he couldn’t croon no more.
I’m excited about what his next move will be and can’t say that about many of his vintage
dai says
Ah I see. Thought it was from the early 70s or something! I am interested too, can’t say I have had the Sunn O record on regular rotation, but it did re-introduce him to the Top 30 I believe
DogFacedBoy says
Yes I assumed it was from one of those 70s covers albums it’s on the 5 Easy Pieces box. Originally from the To Have & To Hold film soundtrack. I think Barry Adamson & Jarvis Cocker persuaded him to do it as if I recall he was not really a fan of Dylan back in the day
Mousey says
Well done chaps, really enjoyed it. Re the honours – maybe Sir Kenney deserves one as an OSM (Only Surviving Member)? And what about the girls? We’re too late for Dame Dusty but I do like the sound of Lady Lulu
Liked the Bongo drummy bits too. Will check the Joni ep tonight
Neela says
Really enjoyable, this! But then I have a soft spot for random bollocks. Another round?
