So Dogfacedboy asked for people to listen to albums that they haven’t listened to before for purely childish or petty reasons. This episode details Mr Ganglesprocket grappling with Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band’s ‘Darkness Of The Edge Of Town’ alongside equally reticent listener FentonSteve. Trying to explain why you like hate something is always tricky but we give it a bloody good go.
There is no wrong or right , DFB the true believer doesn’t attempt a counter argument perhaps because he’s enjoying MrG’s rant far too much.
As I begin the terrible journey back into work (and the Christmas break seems to get shorter and shorter every year) this has completely made my morning-my favourite Springsteen record given the Ganglesprocket treatment!!! Loved it-hope this may be a regular feature …..

Was the echo on the audio really off offputting? There is more sacred cow examination but want to know if it’s too tough to listen to

I listened to it on a little Bluetooth speaker whilst decorating, so hardly the Highest of Fi, and had no problem with intelligibility. I’m less certain about my own contributions, however.
My Spanish teacher is right, though – I do sound like Michael Caine.
Personally, I could stomach more if it’s the same quality. It’s certainly not ‘right’ but it’s OK – stick another warning on it.
It’s also a great idea for a more regular topic.

Interesting, fair play to the David Moyes soundalike for giving it 7 listens. Obviously he’s not for everybody, and there is no right or wrong. Except you are wrong and it’s one of the greatest albums ever made. If he’d only written Racing in the Streets then his place in the rock pantheon would be secure. Probably not the easiest album for a doubter to learn to love though.
Don’t really hear much Van on this album, on the first 2 (or 3) it is more evident.
Good idea for a Podcast, but maybe preface it with a brief summary of the artists that the listener likes.
I think we’d be treading on the RAM Music Club Podcast toes if we did it too much.
I’ll try and see if the other three selections are worth the effort although we’re not as verbally dexterous and splendid as Mr G
Listened to it today on my Bose SoundDock – sounded absolutely fine.
I prefer Billy Joel to Bruce Springsteen.
