So, thanks to social media and assorted other modern gubbins there are loads of new ways, other than the traditional used in a film/popular tv show for a song to acquire belated popularity.
I like to think I’ve played my part in elevating Beach House’s delightful Space Song, as it gets played very regularly Chez Bot:
I think I’m one of the youngest here – but I’ve always been extremely conservative I guess, mostly un-moved by dance, hip hop, jungle, safari, garage, carpark and trap (more like pony and trap to my ears).
And I know none of these.
Sound of Silence went viral, I vaguely remember this after they performed it on The Tonight Show, and it was a good use of my 5 minutes in this here today, gone already digital miasma we’ve all pretty much existed in, post-2007 or so, via the Tech Bros world conquering Utube/Myspace/Twatter axis.
But then again Sound of Silence was, incontrovertibly, simply better when P Simon and Garfunkel did it way back when.
This idea of having to find the “latest thing down with the kids” is not at all the same as finding unfamiliar wonderful music to healthily refresh one’s desires and urges. I’d rather listen to recent, but previously unfamiliar discoveries Snapped Ankles, Tsai Chin, or The Willem Brueker Kollectif, TBH.
I haven’t heard any of them. This does not surprise me at all.

Not a great deal to add here, other than that I love love love Freaks by Surf Curse and The Night We Met by Lord Huron.
The latter is surely incredibly Afterword friendly; it sounds like something off an Uncut cover CD.

My daughter is a big Tyler the Creator fan, I am a big Billie Eilish fan. Saw Lord Huron live in 2022 (supporting Wilco), they were great.
