Jesus H.
I’ve just watched this, live; the speeches begin at 11 mins in.
I know I’m not saying anything novel or insightful here but the depth of Trump’s ignorance, the sheer gargantuan scale of his bovine simplistic dimness, are like nothing I’ve ever seen before. His responses in the Q&A are beyond belief. He is the Type-specimen for Dunning-Kruger.
How long can he last?
Netanyahu, to self: Holy Mother of Christ, this guy is a complete shmendrik. Even for a gentile.
Well, they’re sick of experts, this lot who voted for him. So the non experts now have their shot because anyone can do it, right?
None of this will put off his core support….four more years. Trump did let on during the campaign, saying he knew how to delegate (i.e: know nothing and proud of it), like Mike Flynn.
Put on a happy record to take your mind off.
Dunning-Kruger, an excellent example.
Had to Google that there. Nice little theory, and so true.
It’s a lovely theory until you have someone who is a walking example of it as your line manager or mangler delete as appropriate.
Good job he’s not British; our revolving door system would guarantee him a job as an airline Captain at least, once his time is up, or maybe a heart surgeon. Can’t see him going on the after dinner circuit.
After KKK Bonfire Circuit, perhaps…
Saw some of this on the evening news, feels like we are living in a bizarre parallel world at the moment. Don’t wish to be morbid, but it’s taking me all back to my school cold war feeling days and thinking about mushroom clouds.
I was thinking last night that, back when I was a hotshot publisher, I wouldn’t have countenanced any novel that gave us even half of what Trump has given us over the past few months – unless it was a dystopian jeu d’esprit by some joker like Gore Vidal or Christopher Buckley.
Suggest you seek out It Can’t Happen Here, by Sinclair Lewis. Written in 1935, it describes a situation that’s become quite familiar these days…
Just reread it. I don’t recall that novel being so fecking terrifying last time round.
His promise of a ‘great deal’ for peace in the Middle East did rather remind me of this:
Ironically, one of the things Trump is likely to do without particularly intending to is putting a wedge between Russia and China that hasn’t been there for 30 years.
And no bridges will he build, box-girder or otherwise.
A miracle in the holy land: life for Palestinians is actually going to get worse.
Trump is already delivering the impossible!
