Obituary
Terry Reid, aka Superlungs, aka the unluckiest man in showbiz has died at the age of 75.
In the 60s Aretha Franklin said, “There are only three things happening in England: The Rolling Stones, The Beatles and Terry Reid.” The Stones were themselves big fans (Reid played at Mick Jagger’s wedding) and booked him as support for a US tour. That’s why he pointed a guitarist mate to another singer for his new project, and Robert Plant became singer with Led Zeppelin and not Terry. Likewise he was asked to join Deep Purple, but gave Ian Gillan the break instead, and then passed on the chance to replace Stevie Winwood in the Spencer Davies Group.
If he had taken any of those opportunities it’s unlikely I would have heard his wonderful soulful voice the only time I did, at a social club in Chelmsford in October 2023, and in later interviews he didn’t seem regretful about the path he had taken. He was playing and thrilling audiences almost to the end and whatever chances he may have missed he delighted all those who were lucky enough to see him.

I guess that confirms he probably is deceased; I had a crossed finger I may have been mis-informed.
