Powerhouse drummer with Tear Gas (later to become the Sensational Alex Harvey Band), Rory Gallagher, Michael Schenker, he has passed away due to complications during a surgical operation (hernia I believe) aged 68.
I remember first seeing him playing with the Dream Police and then Tear Gas early 70’s. I last saw him a few years ago with Gerry McAvoy and a Dutch guitarist doing Rory Gallagher songs. Gone too soon.

Just seen an eulogy from Ian Mcnabb which surprised me. Had a live MSG album which McKenna played on..,seems miles away from the Icicle Works so can only assume he was a good ‘un.
Seriously underrated drummer, although I only saw him live with SAHB….
Faith Healer on the gramophone, glass in hand…here’s to you, Ted…
Excellent drummer with SAHB. Never knew about his other career moves.
Always a shame when a good musician goes and he should have had more years than he did.
R.I.P.
Very sad and unexpected. I saw him with Rory a few times and he added a lot of muscle and drive to the engine room. His sense of drama and arrangement fitted perfectly with the SAHB too, always with an eye on the theatre. I never need much of an excuse to post this…
A very fine drummer with the SAHB, as here at their peak on the live album

RIP Ted
MSG Live At The Budokan is a fantastic album.
