A trailer over on Talking Heads social media proclaims “June 5, 2025”.
It isn’t the SDE of More Songs About Buildings And Food, which has already been announced, and which I will doubtless spring for once it halves in price.
New album? Reunion tour? One-off gig in the Cambridge Portland Arms (I can but hope)?
“To mark the 50th anniversary of the band’s first show at CBGB’s the first official video for “Psycho Killer” will be released.”
“directed by Mike Mills & starring Saoirse Ronan”
Those R.E.M. fellas get everywhere.
“R.E.M. reform to direct Talking Heads video”
“Directed by Mike Mills”
When I first read that, I did actually think it was the bloke out of R.E.M.
Silly me.
They’re referring, of course, to the American movie and video director Mike Mills, who made “C’mon C’mon”.
I know… but the idea of R.E.M. doing it makes me smile.
Add an extra E and lop a L and the imagination can really dance.
Michael Miles died in 1971.
Bit of a current trend, what with Florence Pugh appearing in the new Youngblud video.
And i had such great hopes for a visit to the Cambridge Portland Arms .
These pop stars, eh? They crush our dreams and break our hearts a thousand times.
There’s a new Talking Heads book due very soon. This is the RocksBackPages podcast with the author Jonathan Gould.

Annoyingly, it doesn’t seem to be available in the UK (yet).
I think it’s out this month.
I heard him discuss it on the (excellent) Beatles book podcast. He also wrote a book about them.
And here it is. Worth waiting 50 years for?
Well, we had to wait for Saoirse to be born and that didn’t happen until 1994.

I was surprised to read that she was born in The Bronx to Irish parents who returned home when she was 3.
I believe a lot of Irish did that, often staying with distant relatives in the US, so their kids had dual citizenship. Trump wants to end that, but he may say it’s ok for white people.
…if you haven’t seen Lady Bird, give it a go. I loved that film.
No idea if it was worth waiting for, but it’s very good.
Release something once – why release it again?
arf!
Today’s tea/keyboard moment. Well done!
Rumours are they’ve found the RISD demo tape, and the 1975 CBS demos might finally get an official release, for the other RSD later in the year.
The guitar sound is agreeably clangier.
The 77 remaster from last year does indeed sound fantastic. Much better than my original (1978) vinyl.
I hear that David Byrne is appearing on Lauren Laverne’s 6 music show next Tuesday “with a big announcement”. Seriously!
Glastonbury
The mysterious “Patchwork” revealed.
Can’t see it somehow
I see that David Byrne has announced UK dates for next year. London tickets are going fast and are very expensive.
Got in just in time to get Manchester tickets. Crap seats unfortunately…
Sometimes the best strategy is to wait. Ticketmaster etc are experts at making it seem there is unprecedented demand, then strangely better (often cheaper) seats show up just before the show happens
David Byrne is nearly always a contender for gig of the year. I don’t suppose there will be too many more UK tours in the future. For me it’s unmissable.
