… would someone decide to form a tribute band to a band who didn`t really have that many of there own fans in the first place. Ladies and gentlemen, The Yachtles a tribute to Yachts! ( Album coming soon!)
Bloody Record Companies…..
Here they come, waving their cheques, telling you how brilliant you are, making all your dreams come true. Then it all goes wrong, the single stiffs, the album isn`t promoted, the guy who signed you leaves the company, so you reach for your pen. There are few things more entertaining than venting your spleen against “The Man”. The ones I know are mainly from the punk era, The Clash`s pissed off “Complete Control”, Sex Pistols up yours of “EMI”, Nick Lowes sardonic “I Love My Label”, Wreckless Erics fed up to the back teeth ” Take The Cash”. The Yachts did two I`m bloody annoyed classics, “Dont Call Us” and “Out Of Luck” on their Yacht Without Radar album. Now here are Aha, clearly giving WEA the finger, from their 2000 comeback album “Minor Earth, Major Sky” Anymore for anymore?
Hello Sailor! The Yacht Rock thread
At Mini’s request on the “Lurkers” thread, a Yacht Rock thread.
What is it? Well, I guess, music that would sound good on a yacht as you glide around Catalina bay or the Med. Yet it’s hard to define. It’s not Easy Listening exactly. Or less still, Guilty Pleasures. Or is it?
It could be Fleetwood Mac. Or The Doobie Brothers. Could it be British? Sure, How about How Long by Ace. Sail On Sailor, yes. Sailor’s Glass Of Champagne? Probably not. Wait, maybe. Oh heck you decide.
It’s probably mid-tempo, slickly produced, well played, well sung. Good in other words.
As a starter, I’ve gone with prawn cocktail. And musically, something with a suitably nautical theme Brandy by Looking Gkass
