I’ve had a terrible day (don’t ask!) which almost culminated in a fist fight over the contents of the fridge.
Mustard? I ask you, MUSTARD? I know the jar has been opened but mustard does not need keeping in the fridge. Chutneys and pickles that have been opened I can live with but not mustard. Nor ketchup nor brown sauce nor chilli oil. Mayonnaise and things like humous and dips are ok up to a point.
Cooked meats and uncooked do not mix and never let the latter drip onto the former. Cheese should never be served cold and needs taking from the fridge hours before use.
Vegetables should be either frozen or kept at room temperature. Especially potatoes. And onions. As for fruit, well, I despair. Refrigeration ruins the flavour and is particularly damaging to bananas.
Mostly, keep your crap out. And if you do put something in the fridge, get rid of it when it has passed the use by date or it starts growing penicillin. Six day old takeaway rice is not good for the guts.
