I was on an online Quiz last night with some friends and a question came up about a fictional character iknown by various names in different languages. In France she is known as “Clochette” and in Germany she is called “Kling Klang”.
The only contribution I could offer was that Kraftwerk’s studio is called Kling Klang – but it turns out that this is the German name for Tinkerbell – the fairy/sprite character in Peter Pan. I had always assumed that the studio had that name to indicate the kind of noises that come from it. But no – the English translation of Kling Klang is Tinkerbell.
In other news, one of my older brothers contends that the Egg Man in I am the Walrus is a man who delivers eggs door to door. He says when we lived in Liverpool in the 60s, we had a weekly visit from the Egg Man. I was too young to remember this – but he insists this is not an enigmatic reference to anything other than this.
