iPod / iTunes problem

iPod headache!

For years I’ve been using an iPod classic linked to an old version of iTunes on an old laptop which I kept separate from the newer model I used for work. Old laptop has finally died and I’ve meanwhile upgraded my work model, so now managing music through recently downloaded iTunes on the one I’ve had for about six years.

The problem I’m finding is when I connect the computer and iPod and try to organise tracks that are on the latter it only shows me the track title, no other information, which makes it really difficult to locate and reorganise tracks. Also, it seems to have duplicated some albums on the device but not all.

I can’t find any information to resolve this through Google searches and various forums, and suspect it’s down to Apple making it difficult for people to use its old devices. But if anyone can shed any light on the problem it would be appreciated.

ATM: iPod Touch and Mac

Hi All. I don’t know if anyone can help me, but since updating my iMac to Mojave, iTunes won’t recognise my iPod Touch. I’ll plug it in and an alert box comes up:

‘iTunes could not connect to the iPod touch “*TrypF’s* iPod” because an invalid response was received from the device.’

I’ve look it up on the various Mac forums and they all say it’s either the USB port or the cable (both checked – my wife’s iPod nano connects fine), or anti-malware software interfering. Other than updating Microsoft Office to 365 recently, I can’t think what else that could be.

Or it could just be my iPod is very old and Apple have finally given up on it – however it’s a trusty old warhorse and I don’t really fancy splashing out on an iPhone just to play podcasts and music on the go.

Any help would be gratefully received.

ATM – iPod Classic Streaming

A word of warning – I know next to nowt about Bluetooth.

The old iPod Classic (6th generation) isn’t getting the use it once was, primarily because my commute is shorter these days and going to and from work was when I used it most.

I would like to be able to use it more at home/in the garden and have given thought to buying a dock, but it would appear that it is possible to but a Bluetooth iPod transmitter and then play it through a Bluetooth speaker. This option would appear to allow me to maintain my couch potato lifestyle, rather than having to get up when I want a change.

I’ve done a bit of reading and there is the suggestion that not all iPod transmitters are compatible with all speakers. Given my lack of Bluetooth knowledge, I don’t know if this is the case or not.

I’m after a fairly compact speaker and the Cambridge Go wireless speaker has caught my eye. Would this connect to any iPod transmitter I buy or do I need to buy a particular make.

Any help and advice (or other potential options) gratefully received.

ATM: Ipod Classic – decent replacement?

My trusty old 120gb Classic IPod is like a pensioner. Its forgetting stuff, stopping every 5 or six songs for a sit down and won’t communicate with my music library anymore. Basically it’s shotgun behind the chicken shed time. And as the recent cessation of manufacture by Apple has driven prices to sillybolllocks levels getting another secondhand on Fleabay is a no-no

Is there a decent alternative? I rely on the big bastard for my frequent road trips round the country so, yes, I do need 17,000 songs at my disposal whilst on the mooove.
