Hey Joe has got two of the three most vital ingredients: sexual passion and death. What it lacks is a factor that is bound to feature in any list of the most popular cover versions: Xmas.
If you can write a catchy tune about Mrs Santa doing away with her hubby after catching him making whoopee with one of the elves, you’ll be laughing all the way to the bank.
Anybody got any idea about which are the most covered songs of all time?
We might be surprised.
I once did a cover compilation of Besame Much for a friend. It ran to 4 CDs and my lips got very sore after all that kissing.
