It strikes me that exorcism is all too rarely discussed on the Afterword and I wonder if this is due to a lack of knowledge, particularly among those Afterworders who have never been possessed by Satan. (I have read occasional comments here along the lines of “Jethro Tull are shite” and “the best-fitting jeans I’ve ever had are from ASDA”, but quite frankly such comments have absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with the topic of exorcism and aren’t really worth mentioning in this context.) Exorcism is a complicated subject and who better to explain the ins and outs of it than a proper exorcist? So here’s Father Vincent (“Vince”) Lampert M.Div., pastor of ‘St. Peter’ and ‘St. Michael the Archangel’ Catholic Churches in Brookville Indiana and designated exorcist of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Indianapolis. I think he’s something of a celebrity exorcist to the stars and on this YouTube interview he does a great job of separating fact from fiction and debunking a few common myths. The interview is from last October so, given the frequency and speed with which the Catholic Church likes to implement change, not all of the info will be up-to-date. Forgive me Father for I have sinned…
As it is Lent, it is important to not only give up something (in my case sausages) but also confess your sins in preparation for the glorious day when you can look at God squarely in the eye and know that you have offloaded your iniquity. You can only touch the hem of His cloak knowing that your spirit is cleansed from sin. Oh and don’t forget to have disposed of your bongo mags and restored your tablet to factory settings.
So pull up a pew. On second thoughts – don’t. This dusty little box isn’t made for something that long!
My confession is that I rubberneck like a blimmin’ giraffe. I am that person who wants to see what’s going on over there on the other side of carriageway. It’s interesting. Everyone always says that they don’t do it – but I do.
I also respond to clickbait even though I know there’s always a hearty, o’er filling cornucopia of utter bollocks waiting for me on the other side. Why does that child have Schwarzenegger muscles? Can you really peel off your old face to reveal a new one? Click click click…
That’s better. I now live » Continue Reading.
Dear God!
The weekly posting from The World’s Worst Records blog arrived today. I was shocked. How could he lump XTC, Todd Rundgren and the delightful track Dear God in with his usual “audio atrocities”. I am a big fan of the blog, the author and the two books he has written. He must be mistaken.
Relax dear reader. This version is the one recorded by Todd for his LP (Re)Productions, a collection of tracks he produced for other artists. The conflict he had with XTC during the sessions for Skylarking are well documented and are worth reading about on the blog. In the meantime I am going to search out more of Todd’s versions to see how bad they really are.
