Whistle Test a-go-go
Someone appears to be uploading all the surviving 1971-72 inserts and full programmes of the OGWT at YouTube (thanks to Carol From Luton for the tip).
Here’s an astonishingly animated Gerry Rafferty from 21/12/71. We don’t hear much from him these days.

Comfort blanket
I’ve had a bad week with that little fecker of a black dog. Bastard keeps nipping at my heels. I have certain songs that I go to when he’s around, but this is always the one that soothes my soul. It is my comfort blanket. Come on then you lot. Let’s do an old fashioned Friday night thread of songs that you go to when life is getting you down. What is your comfort blanket?
In the absence of any word from Gerry Rafferty…
…here’s something he was doing in August 1970, with the Humblebums, on BBC’s ‘Sounds of the Seventies’, which I’ve just transferred from a reel. Three songs: Cruising (Billy Connolly vocal), Keep It To Yourself (Rafferty vocal, prog-rock epic), My Singing Bird (Rafferty again).
