About the bloke who invented the dole, or something. Fittingly gratis, but only this weekend.
VdGG CDs
In the spirit of putting my money where my mouth is… And as a direct result of the “I already have that album…” thread…
I have the eight VdGG CDs which are covered by the Charisma Years box set, in their 2005 reissue with bonus tracks versions.
If anyone wants them (all or individually), just PM me – first come first served, as always.
So it’s: Least we can do is wave… H to He… Pawn Hearts Godbluff Still Life World Record Quiet Zone/Pleasure Dome Vital (live dbl)
They are in Arrowfile pages – so no jewel cases. I don’t want any money or postage for them – just give a donation to your local hospice and we’ll call it even.
As previously: if any of this makes the Mods uncomfortable, please feel free to delete this.
Musical mementos
Did you ever whilst attending a gig take home a memento of that night? Did you catch a broken drumstick as the drummer threw it into the audience in disgust? Maybe you caught one of Morrissey’s gladioli. Maybe you have some record company freebie. Mine since you ask is a pair of Gong boots given to me by a friend who house sat for Mother Gong back in the eighties. Share them here.
PSA: NetGalley, ebooks, freebooks
Folk who like to read and review stuff ahead of publication might be interested in this just-launched site.
Once you’ve signed up (and constructed a not-too-obviously-bogus persona for yourself) you can request proofs (ie ebooks) from a whole range of publishers including Bloomsbury, Penguin, PanMacmillan, Fourth Estate, Granta, Canongate etc etc. You have to be approved by the publisher whose book you’ve requested, and you have to say where you’re going to post a review, but I would have thought several hundred committed book-buyers on the Afterword would constitute a fairly convincing demographic.
So give it a go if you fancy it.
