I’ve just discovered that it’s International Book Day today in the UK. That means that children all over the country (to the despair of their already over-stressed parents) will be expected to come to school dressed up as their favourite authors or literary characters.
Most popular costume? Oompa Loompas. And this year, to add a little variety, the kids can add a kilt to their outfit and come as a Glaswegian Oompa Loompa!
The Afterword community is full of enthusiastic bookworms and bibliophiles so I’m sure that you are all getting into the spirit of things and getting togged us appropriately. Or maybe not….
But what I am sure of, is that you’ve got a tip or two about books we should read or writers we should know about.
As the Whovians here will know, the Doctor has met several authors. Charles Dickens, Agatha Christie, Mary Shelley.. If you could borrow the Tardis for the day for a day for a literary expedition, who would you want to meet?
