Fifty years ago today, Hip Hop was born in a ‘back to school jam’ party in an apartment building in The Bronx. DJ Kool Herc span the discs.
Hip Hop is a combination of four elements: DJ/Turntablism, MC/Rap, B-Boy/Break Dancing and Visual/Graffiti Art. All four are equally valued. It’s a musical genre that has dominated the world for decades, arguably outliving Rock, Soul and Reggae.
