There’s been quite a procession of tributes to the newly departed on the site. So it’s heartwarming to see one of our elder stars as pumped full of life as the LGTS(FTS)H is here. It’s a long way from the best thing he’s ever done and I wish the production was a twist punchier (that fade out – like an old geezer’s piss stream), but it’s colourful and chipper and will be getting me out of bed for this month of April and for that I am gratepril..
Dexys (As It Should Have Sounded Remix 2022)
Messrrs Rowland et al have remixed the Too-Rye-Ay to remove “Clanger” & Winstanley’s 40-year-old production.
First track, Old, has, er, dropped. To be honest, it’s not that radical a reworking.
Too-Rye-Nay!
The intriguing 40th Anniversary live reworking of the LMTPH second-best album has been cancelled due to Kevin’s unfortunate but mysterious motorcycle accident. A real shame – was so looking forward to the show…even persuaded my beloved to go. The album is still coming out, though.
Who are your “Day One” Artists?
Today sees the release of new albums from The Monkees, Paul Simon & Dexys. In the pre-streaming/on-demand age, this would have sent me to a record shop to pick up those albums on the day they came out. Today I have “Saved” those records into my Spotify, but I really only feel compelled to pick up a copy of The Monkees. For the last Dexys album, which I thought was really great, I have never bought a physical copy.
So who are your “Day One” artists? Who’s new release do you still want to hear as soon as it comes out? Do you still need to buy a physical copy or has that tradition fallen away…
Worst ever vocal performance?
Even allowing for the fact that there’s a little bit of distortion on the tape, is this the worst ever live vocal performance?
Check out the moment at 56″ – it’s magic.
Can anyone find anything worse than this??
