I’ll start. From 8 years ago. Sarah Buxton, Kate York, Ian Fitchuk and, of course, Daniel Tashian. Skyline Motel and It’s Not About You.
You know the score – Go.
I went to see Kelly Willis at the Maze last Wednesday, part of her UK Tour. I will try and post a review. Did anyone else catch her at all or is this a very minority taste?

A treat for me, and a few others who hang round about here, to look forward to is an album due out in August that Shelby Lynne and Allison Moorer have collaborated on, according to Rolling Stone.
It is titled, Not Dark Yet, after the Dylan Song they cover. The producer is Teddy Thompson.
It also includes covers of songs by Townes van Zandt, Jason Isbell & Amanda Shires and Nirvana.

Inexplicably, with no fanfare at all, E4 started Series 3 of Nashville this week. We only found out, after the broadcast, when my wife spotted at snippet of information in the London Evening Standard.
It’s available for catch up on All 4 and I’m sure if you scour the TV listings you can also find a repeat showing before Episode 2 goes out next Wednesday.
However this lack of dedication to a previously popular show is something I’ve observed before on Channel 4 (and its offshoots). They don’t give it publicity, move the time slot around, say audiences are too low and drop the programme from the schedules (cf Homicide:Life On The Street and Tour De France coverage).
Meanwhile enjoy my favourite song from S2, Black Roses performed by Scarlett (Clare Bowen)

As US country has increasingly become dominated by ‘Bro’ Country’ dudes singing about girls with cut-off and partying, an alternative has been growing in commercial as opposed to just critical support.
Last year, Sturgull Simpson was leading the rear-guard – this year we have Blackberry Smoke (good album btw) and now Aaron Watson. No Sturgill Simpson, but a traditional sound with no hip-hop or AOR guitars.
