The Guardian (http://bit.ly/1MoTYhp) is reporting the unearthing of only the 2nd known picture of Billy The Kid. Bought for $2 in a junk shop in Fresno, California it’s expected to fetch a 7-figure sum at auction. That’s Billy on the left playing croquet. The picture was taken in Mexico in 1878. Billy would have been 18. 3 years later he was shot dead by James Coburn..er..Pat Garrett. Obviously cue Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door

I think is my favourite Dylan period – BIABK, Highway 61, BOB, and I’m not an aficionado.
It’s a pretty amazing story, and it yet again reinforces the recognition that our heroes in this era were making it up as they went along – events that are now historic were, at the time, just what happened.
The video is an early version of Visions Of Johanna.
Fans of Bob Dylan and music in general might like this show from earlier today on Radio 4, where musician/satirist Mitch Benn spends half an hour discussing Bob’s effect on songwriting, singing and being a Rock Star. It’s very funny, entertaining, and edumakational – what more do you want? Next week he does a similar thing for Bowie called Mitch Benn and the Fat Pink Duke.
We had to wait for No Direction Home to see longer 66 tour takes but this was Dylan’s post crash assembly

Hello “The Massive” I posted earlier this week on the Bob Dylan is rubbish thread. Now as we all know, according to the foie gras hating Brass in Pocket chanteuse Chrissie Hynde, there is a thin line between love and hate. For most of my 53 years I never “got” Dylan and pretty much hated his music, but in the past thee months it just clicked and now I have all that body of work to explore and spend time with…lucky old me! I do however need a, ahem, download of the complete Theme Time Radio Hour, of course I do, you guys know how it is if anyone does…and I can’t find it on my usual dodgy t’internet sites. I am hoping someone out there in obsessive musicland can help a Dylan newbie and point me in the right direction for this. Thanks in advance etc etc.
Sorry if this is only of interest to someone who has been listening to too much 1965-66 Dylan lately but who is it in the band who shouts ‘Let’s Go!’ as they kick into Maggie’s Farm at Newport?
Plus who is the mad laugher on Rainy Day Women who cracks Dylan up?
