Nobody needs reminding of this, shirley. But I just spent a happy half hour at this link which I stumbled on in the course of my, er, researches, and thought I would share. Quite apart from the music, has there ever been a more sustained stretch of graphic design brilliance than the 50s/60s Blue Note covers?* Discuss.

There was a time in the late 80’s and early nineties when I was crazy about Blue Note. The album covers – artwork and graphics, the heavy, heavy vinyl and equally robust sleeves, the liner notes and most of all that brilliant hard-bop.
I have 38 of these. How about you?

Amazing jazz record collection up for auction in Paris in a couple of weeks. Lot 1 alone consists of 99 discs, and there are 522 lots, around 10,000 albums in total. It’s the collection of Pierre Mondy, a French actor. He had a huge collection of CDs and DVDs as well apparently. Clearly one of us.
