We’ve all been to gigs where we’re waiting around like Vladimir and Estragon and the main “turn” doesn’t deign to actually crack the boards until well beyond the witching hour. Finally some punters have cracked and said enough.

Rapper Young Thug’s racketeering trial has begun with Georgia prosecutors accusing him of being a gang leader in charge of a “wolf pack”.
The Atlanta rapper, born Jeffery Lamar Williams, is accused of co-founding a violent street gang in his hometown.
Prosecutors are using the critically acclaimed performer’s own lyrics as evidence against him. This strikes me as an extraordinary story. Where does it end? The Stone Roses’ Shoot You Down cited in a Gunchester trial? Donald Fagen nicked for the murder of Richard II in Pomfret Castle? Blondie arraigned at The Hague for violating the START treaty?
Nice little article about a quite magisterially great song. I don’t personally think that MJ put a foot wrong in the 1980s.
Apart from charging around South America with Tim Pope while out of his gourd on acid and vodka, some would say – I couldn’t possibly comment.

And I am tiny!
We’ve got a new shed. The inside of it, reasonably enough, is raw wood.*
We’re in the market for some treatment that will help to preserve it before we fill it with our pile of useless old crap essential equipment.
Any recommendations?
I apologise for any excitement accidents/emissions this has caused.

Lester Bangs v Lou Reed.
An 11-year-old revival of a 48-year-old article.
You’re welcome.
The night before last I was attacked by leaping green snakes (probably to do with how much I hate cucumbers).
Last night I was being chauffeured around in a souped up 2CV by Tom Stoppard.
One for @deramdaze I think…
This unintentionally funny bit of bloody nonsense came up on facebook today.
“On this day in 1977, the only band that matters Released their first album. It changed the political direction of a generation!”
It certainly did – four consecutive Conservative election victories and the total decimation of the union/Labour movement in the UK for ever. Is that what you meant?
I realise that “blokes make pop record” sounds less exciting but let’s get some perspective here.
What preposterous claims have you heard/seen for pop records?
What albums from the 90s/00s that were never on vinyl would you like to see on the ol’ black plastic?
I was recently informed that the splendid Head Like a Rock has never been vinlyfied. Any more?
Happen in my day they were shuffling, softly spoken vegetarians in Oxfam cardigans. With stupid hair.
Irritating, but essentially harmless.
Now it appears they are Nazi rapists. With stupid hair.

Bloke from Fat White Family, a group of which I know nothing, lays into IDLES, a group I’ve heard of to the extent of knowing that their name is in capitals.
It’s quite an entertaining piece, a bit bonkers but from the heart. He does kind of put his finger on What’s Gone Wrong recently (ie the last 5-10 years)

I’m sure a lot of you will have heard of Basil Kirchin, one of Hull’s great musical heroes and a brilliant nutter. This documentary was made for the City of Culture doings in 2017 and is now available on Vimeo. Well worth 40-odd minutes of your time.
