Anyone else into these? I go back with these guys…their ‘Every Man and Woman is a Star’ album was on heavy rotation in the early 90s as was the follow up ‘United Kingdoms’. They were a heady mix of Ambient Dub on similar territory to The Orb but with a very curious swerve into what was (back then) obscure art rock/folk/psychedelic music as well as the early Factory Records/Les Disques Du Crepuscule bands and the Canterbury Scene – they later collaborated with Kevin Ayers and Robert Wyatt. In other words, a world away from their contemporaries like The Prodigy or The Shamen. They’ve been a huge influence on my own music making and listening. They still crop up from time to time and they’re back with a new LP soon – as well as curious little 7″ single which has some suitably atmospheric sounds to accompany photographs, graphics and poetry inspired by a stretch of the Blackwater Estuary in Essex – get it here https://www.stjudesprints.co.uk/products/blackwaterside
Stumbled Upon.
I was looking for Brazilian Electronica for KFDs thread and saw a name of a duo who turned out to be Argentinian. I discovered they’d put up some free tracks on the Free Music Archive Site and I started exploring there. Found this under “Jazz” which it almost entirely isn’t, but nevertheless I found myself listening to the whole thing, which if it was a vinyl album would probably be a 4-disc box. My attention wandered at times, but nevertheless there was enough interesting stuff to make it very worthwhile, I thought. Of course you might disagree and call it a right old load of cobblers. Such is your right.

Recommend some long, please
Wandering through Spotify lately, I’ve been drawn to longer pieces.
Came across an LP, Perpetual by Ryuichi Sakamoto, its second movement clocks in just under 20 minutes. Also have been enjoying Blackened Cities by Melanie de Biasio which I discovered through the Afterword’s best of 2016.
I’m looking for some more, any suggestions?
Difficult, uneventful, busy, calming – I don’t mind.
Brian ENO Reflection App
I know it’s only just appeared in the iTunes App Store but has anyone tried the ‘generative music’ app yet? It’s £30 so would like an opinion on it before I shell out. It sounds like something interesting but discrete (sorry) to play when doing some thinking work. Listened to album on Spotify and it sounds good, needs a bedtime listen before I make my mind up though!
