I heard this on 6Music last week. It was celebrating the Cure’s Disintegration which came out in 1989.
35 years ago – that makes me feel older than any recent birthdays have made me feel.
They played this because it apparently came out in 1989 – except that it didn’t. It was released in 1986.
Anyway I think it is rather good.
Anyone else heard anything recently that has surprised them with its age?

Forgot to say – the group is called Two Nice girls and they are from Austin.

Don’t use the box!
And, as noted elsewhere recently, Disintegration came out on the same day as The Stone Roses.

Sticking with the Cure – I was reminded this week that my favourite Cure album came out while I was a student – Pornography, in May 1982. Count ‘em – 42 years ago, this very week!
Erk! Gah!!

One of my first pocket-money purchases after I heard Annie Nightingale play 100 Years on R1. Talk about a dive into the deep end…

They never did another with that claustrophobic, nihilistic, single-minded intensity – I still love it!

Me too – their best album by some distance

Some songs are just so good they can accommodate any number of interpretations.

That’s a lovely version of two great songs, mashed in a very well blended way. But it’s the Cowboy Junkies version which I love so enormously dearly, as it resonates from a time and place when life was really beautiful.

thanks for this, I look forward to playing it out in a future mix, cheers!
