I already knew about Rod Temperton (RIP)’s Britishness – but there have been times when you hear a song that must, surely, be a Californian band strummin’ and harmonizin’ in the summer breeze. This is the example that still socks me in the eye. This is a New Zealand band. It’s like finding out that John “Cougar!” Mellencamp is from Stevenage.
I know that many singers fake the US accent but everything about this BreaksCo-op song screams America. There are others. What you waitin’…what you waitin’ for?

I’m sure that people who didn’t know could easily believe that First Aid Kit were from the Mid West.
The white nighties and flaming torches are a dead give away though. Pure Santa Lucia.
Ellen Sundberg is another Swede whose nationality is not immediately obvious.
