This just in from Sony Legacy Recordings:
“SUBTERRANEAN HOMESICK BLUES 2022 VIDEO REMAKE
In celebration of 60 years of Bob Dylan on Columbia Records, the iconic “Subterranean Homesick Blues” video has been reimagined by a wide range of musicians, film makers, graphic designers and street artists. Watch it now.”
Because what the world needs now is one of the most memorable music videos ever ruined / updated by Da Yoof.
Thank gawd they’ve left the audio alone.
Actually, on its own terms that’s not bad. I quite like it.
Still, the original is unbeatable isn’t it? Great song, great video!
Apologies for again agreeing with you, Arthur!
Jeez, noooo… 🙂
Most people wouldn’t have seen it until Don’t Look Back came out in ’67, if then. It weren’t on Top of the Pops thy knows.
And anyway, he copied it from Mike Posner’s far superior ‘I Took A Pill In Ibiza’.
Superior? Nonsense! Dylan doesn’t lick his fingers each time he shows a new card. Young people: cuh.
Hardly star-studded, is it? And hardly an improvement.
Christ on a bike that’s unwatchable. What a triumph of delusional self-importance.
Good that Ginsberg is wearing hi-vis. Sensible chap.
horrible….just admit it….
My first exposure to the song was on The Young Ones. I’m not sure Jools Holland had even started on The Tube yet but the video has other Squeeze people, Nick Lowe, Stewart Copeland…
And then this version by TV’s Tom Watt. Video features New Order towards the end.
And here’s Weird Al’s take on it
Here’s one made to promote Pete Paphides’s “Broken Greek” book – it’s dead triff.
