I set my self a challenge of playing a minimum of 3 cd’s every weekend that I haven’t played for a year.
This weekend I played Bobby Charles – Last train to Memphis,Boards of Canada – Tomorrow’s harvest and Michelle Shocked – Captain swing.
Michelle Shocked sounding great – she is an odd one. Seen her live twice – Excellent at one gig and shambolically awful at another. Still love her though.

Nice idea, and the eclecticism of your 3 impresses. Captain Swing I have never, deliberately, listened to, and won’t, even with the hint. But I love the one ahead and the one after, 2 of the best “americana” releases I have. The Arkansas Traveller tour was fabulous, catching it at Warwick Arts.
Oh I like Captain Swing. Little known fact – my mate played mandolin with her on some dates on the last UK tour.
I saw that AT tour too, at the Town and Country Club in Camden.
Time spent listening to Bobby Charles is time well spent.
You are not wrong @Ralph – of all the artists who have passed in recent years he is the one I mourn the most. Every album he did was excellent – he just didn’t do enough of them.
