It is pretty mild here in west Cornwall, but this is the earliest yet the camelias have started to come out. I don’t mind though. Unless it’s proper snow and we can all sack off work then I loathe winter and can’t wait for the days to lengthen.
Bring on the Spring!

It’s called global warming, Jimmy.
Hmmm, not here (Ottawa), most snow in Dec for 9 years (131cm total) and forecast for -25C this weekend. Better than dreary British rain I suppose ….
The car park at work after some ploughing
Conspicuous by its absence here too. This is just one night’s snowfall!
I was impressed that by 9.00 a.m. they had shovelled it all up and that the Metro was running on schedule. No problems with the wrong kind of snow on the tracks. The bus drivers and their passengers were having a lot less fun though.
A moving train? Some snow? Yeah right. As if such a thing is possible.
Very impressive, Dai. I would like to see Thomas the Tank Engine try that.
22c at midnight and raining here in darkest Sydney. You probably don’t care how horrible the humidity has been…
Too icy even for polar bears.
I saw that this morning. I just watched it again, and its power to reduce me to helpless tears of laughter isn’t diminished by repetition in the least. I can hardly see to type.
That was pure genius.
Ah, West Cornwall! *nostalgic moment*
Friend of mine in central Cornwall had snowdrops at the beginning of December. Not necessarily global warming – Cornwall’s climate has always been different from everywhere else.
Had my rhubarb growing at the end of December, may have been touched by frost now.
Me too.
hurrr
I loathe Spring & especially Summer – give me Autumn & Winter anytime. I can’t think of a more beautiful sight than a leafless tree against a dark sky.
Our clematis is budding already, and we’re up on the Cotswold edge. Still, Donald tells me there’s nothing unusual going on, just hyped up ‘global warming’ stuff to make us worry, all dreamt up by the crafty Chinese, so that’s OK.
“Had my rhubarb growing”… “Our clematis is budding”…
….you people disgust me.
