And not helped by titling one song Jessica’s Bra…. although to be fair most of their latter day albums are still pretty decent overall, not Machine Head or In Rock standard of course but like many bands of that era they’re in their 80s now and credit to them for keeping producing new music when they could just retire or tour on the strength of their classic back catalogue.
Never been a fan myself, but have the Purples (the Deeps?) ever been so popular that they still have enough of an audience to include people willing to pay 20k for a Revox?
To each their own, obviously, but I can’t help thinking that those sort of prices are probably more suitable for bands with truly massive audiences.
And yes, the word “Splat” doesn’t really correspond with such expensive items.
I’d love a Revox B77, but I’m not keen on the tape.
Or the cost…
DP Splat! Revox reel-to-reel (complete with Studio Master tape) €19,995 (limited to 25)
DP Splat! Revox Turntable (complete with Studio Master Vinyl) €6,995 (limited to 50)
DP Splat! A200 Revox Studiomaster speaker €698
DP Splat! Various reel-to-reels ranging from €250 – €1259
Yeesh!!
I just bought a ticket to see them for ……..$30
Surely the biggest marketing problem (self-inflicted) is that they’ve called the album ‘Splat’…

I never “got” Deep Purple either.
The Purps is the contraction you’re looking for.
