Whilst removing frost from the car windscreen this morning, I found myself singing The Jam’s “Scrape Away”.
I went shopping, and when we returned couldn’t find the bread. “Where Did Our Loaf Go?”
Spent late morning/early afternoon in the garden. I was singing in my head “Pruning Back The Hedge” (to the tune of Talking Heads “Burning Down The House”
Hoovering needed doing, and I had the urge to grow a moustache and sing about how I yearned to get away from domestic mundanity (I can report there was no urge to dress up in drag (honest!)).
First drink of the night just finished – I’m on the way to being “Comfortably Numb”

When shopping, did you say hello to The Man In The Corner Shop?
I often sing the opening lines….

after a much needed time in the toilet.

If I’m not working & I don’t have much to do, I often play this on a Thursday Afternoon. I don’t sing along. I just sit and listen.
The mundane life of the Parklife narrator character hints at desperate loneliness.
“I get up when I want except Wednesdays, when I am rudely awakened by the dustmen.
I put my trousers on, have a cup of tea, and think about leaving the house…”
He celebrates going to the park, to feed the pigeons. He’s telling us that this is a tremendous way to spend the day. And all the other people he describes are ridiculed. He’s the one who has it all worked out. He’s the happy one.
When I heard it on the radio, I was really taken by it. Like a mini play within a pop song. The video played for laughs, which is a shame.
A cold but bright-blue sky Sunday in The Languedoc. As every Sunday, start off with Ella & Louis. Then this morning, as per Tiggs instructions, on to Ms Giddens. So far anything but mundane…
