I can’t stand “country” generally, certainly not the non-alt. version anyway and this track is everything I should hate – country, mawkish, soppy etc etc…but I love it.
Anything float your boat that should have it sinking like a brick to the deepest depths?
Great start – can’t get it to embed or get the link clickable !!!
It’s Randy Travis – Forever and Ever Amen

Apparently Mr. Travis has requested that his song is not able to be embedded via YouTube – yet another reason to dislike it!
Since I’ve been about 10, this song has been adhered to my brain’s pleasure center like a barnacle, and no amount of shame has been able to scrape it loose.

Ian Broudie looks so much nicer when he smiles.
(I’ve been making this joke for about twenty years)
In the word of today’s youth, – well getting further towards middle age – that made me proper lol.
Indie kid, lover of the folky singer-songwriter and part-time dance music fan, I should hate AOR but I don’t and I adore this:

1991 – My listening tastes involve Punk, Heavy Metal, Carter USM, Happy Mondays, Charlatans, Inspiral Carpets and Stone Roses.
House/Techno does NOT feature on my radar, so why did I (and still do) like this?
Nothing wrong with this…

How come there’s only 5our of them?
One of them 5ucked off.
Ooer, that looks ruder than I intended
(not something I often say)
I guess he’ll be the one hidden by that piano, if that’s what it is?
The other one is Timmy the dog.
(Curse Enid Blyton for not calling the dog Fluffy so I could say 5luffy..)
I’m not sure I should hate it. But, after folkie finger-in-ear, punk, rock, classical, I’ve come to the conclusion that there isn’t a genre I actually hate. Crowell-produced to one side.
But electronic dance stuff usually has to be excellent to get on my listening list. I don’t know if this is excellent, but I love it
REM’s “Shiny Happy People” seems to be widely reviled, not least by the band themselves, but I’ve always loved it. Nothing to do with the presence (on sound and vision) of the divine Kate Pierson, of course. http://youtu.be/iCQ0vDAbF7s
I’m Into Something Good by Herman’s Hermits. Ok it’s a Goffin/King song but it’s Herman’s Hermits FFS. (Sorry, can’t post clips at the moment)
FFS? HH did this and this really is a great tune… penned by Graham Gouldman though.
… and BTW Freddie Garrety (sp?) was Peter Noones milkman (he told me).

I love this song and it’s attendant video, odd grammar and all
I now find it diffcult to watch that video having seen the Literal version:
There is really no excuse for like this. It is oily and cheesy. It has glutinous strings and most of it’s in Spanish so I don’t know what it’s about. But I adore it.
Maybe it’s because I remember mum dancing along to it at a garden party (didn’t call them barbecues then). Laughing, dancing and spilling the wine in the glass she was (inevitably) holding. I said you look like the woman in Abigail’s Party. She said “who’s Abigail?” And continued to laugh, dance and spill her wine. Most of dad’s friends were more than happy to slip a hand round her waist or lower as Dad adopted that look of amused detachment he had come to perfect.
Julio Iglesias
Begin The Beguine
That’s really funny. Ta
