The Independent on Sunday is asking for suggestions in its Top Ten of songs as the post says, the title is only referenced in the final words. The example given is Up the Junction by Squeeze.
In the one I posted before; https://theafterword.co.uk/two-minutes-or-less/ we had rather a good strike rate.
Here’s hoping as I can’t think of a single one.

Oh, and Mega Armageddon Death by the Electro Hippies.
Tiggerlion says
Serenade by Roxy Music is a perfect single, three minutes of scintillating, futuristic pop livening up a whimsically romantic lyric. Pity it was only ever an album track.

Moose the Mooche says
Great, marginally OTT drumming on that track. In fact Paul T., always brilliant, is particularly good on that album. The floor toms on Psalm, for example.
Tiggerlion says
Actually, at one point, they specialised in this artifice.

Roxy Music – Just Like You
Tiggerlion says
I’ve no idea what happened there. Anyone?
Fin59 says
Just Like You is simply sublime. Serenade is quintessential Roxy and yet on an album that includes Amazona and Mother Of Pearl and Song For Europe and Street Life, a second string strand of brilliance.
Tiggerlion says
Add to those Psalm and Sunset and you have one of the best, most complete albums ever made.
Moose the Mooche says
Up the Junction
(Squeeze, not Manfred Mann)
hubert rawlinson says
Sorry Moose mentioned in OP
Remembered Virginia Plain too late to even reply to myself.
Gary says
Squeeze – Up The Junction
Gary says
Curse your nimble fingers, Moose!
Moose the Mooche says
That’s not what you said…. oh maybe this isn’t the place
Tiggerlion says
Wasn’t Hubert even more nimble in the OP?
Moose the Mooche says
What, you actually read OPs? I just read the titles.
Clearly…
Gary says
I’d be far more on the ball if I weren’t so heavily sedated.

Quite agree, a very fine song from a great album.

Tubular Bells (Part One)
The last instrument announced by Viv Stanshall is Tubular Bells

The Black Sabbath original does not use the word “Paranoid” in its lyrics.
On The Dickies cover version, the last line is “I must be Paranoid”, which means it complies with the above criteria

I was going to post ‘Smile Of The Beyond’, one of the few vocal Mahavishnu Orchestra numbers, but my memory was adrift: the title is intoned after verse five and after verse 7 as well as being the last line. Oh well.
but… literally as I was typing ‘Oh Well’ just there I thought, ‘Hang on…’
Colin H says
Just noticed: he doesn’t say the title in that live clip. It’s here in the studio version between 1.50 – 1.55…

Ragged Kingdom , the fabulous, Radio-2-Folk-Award-for-Album-of-the-Year-winning disc from June Tabor and Oysterband features the traditional Fountains Flowing, the last words of which are “and fountains flowing”.
