As I remember did Bo Derek’s character in 10. One imagines that John, at least once he was past his cherubic youth, needed more help with seduction than Bo Derek ever did.
I’ve seen the three of them perform twice under the I’m With Her moniker, and they are extraordinarily, extravagantly talented; almost beyond belief, the sum is even greater than the parts.
God, Amos Garrett’s sinuous guitar solo in Oasis is a wonder to behold. The love and care with which those first three solo albums MM did for Warners were put together is up there with Ry Cooder’s ouput around the same time.
I wonder how many times he played that solo interlude in that song, and whether, as here, he played it differently to the recorded instance each time. Different, yet recognisably related, and equally sinuous and melodic every time. Absolute artistry.
I think you’ve got closest to what I was trying to ask for, Mike. Not songs to seduce others, but songs that seduce you, by the feelings expressed by the singer. Dusty is so languorous, and her voice isn’t swallowed in the mix like the Kate Bush song down below.
Worst Mr T impression? You should see me in leopard skin y fronts, swigging gin and twirling a golfing iron round an inflatable No.10 door, as Steve Nallon chants the Pearl Card and Teddy Johnson hit ‘Sing Little Birdie’ in blue twinset and blonde wig.
(I fear this subthread is now a long way from songs of seduction)
A friend of mine used to swear by C’est La Vie by Greg Lake as his go to song for completing the seduction of a young lady. It was never clear whether the ladies in question had their hearts melted by Greg’s crooning or simply made a dash for the bedroom to get away from it.
That is the thing about that which turns us on: people generally, but particularly the likes of us on here, are so proud of our superior tastes when it comes to music (that’s fine, but you need to hear the 60s soul group original/ Oakenfold remix/ version the time I saw them rehearse it for the first time in a garage), or books and movies (observe the magnificence of the spines in our bookshelves, our dvd collection), or – I dunno – wine, maybe, but when it comes to the irrefutable evidence that which stirs Little Sew from his slumber, we are as much slave to cliché as the next person..
If you insist, Madge – it’s quite (self-) centred at the moment, but if I just squeeze it out to the margins of your shoulder-padded box jacket, it should be justified (but not ancient, of course).
‘I’d never heard of Brazilian singer, Anitta, until I listened to this gorgeous duo with Caetano Veloso.
What an exquisite smile. I decided to give the solo material of this delightful garota-next-door a chance. I was expecting some thing delicate with a bossa feel.
Not quite!
What can I say? Scorchio!
Hindi Zahra has a gorgeous delicacy of touch in her Beautiful Tango.
2 out of ain’t bad, KFD. I guess seduction is in the ear of the beholder. That second clip didn’t leave much to the imagination, but for soppy, sentimental old me, I prefer it gentler and more intimate than in your face. The duet was lovely and affectionate, the third track was beautifully accompanied by unaffected rhythm guitar and was sung simply and straight – very affecting.
First B.A.Baracus, c/o Moose, now Hannibal. Can we expect to see the rest of the A-Team emerging on this thread?
In 1972, a cracked, ‘going commando’ unit was sent to vinly prison by a musical court for a criminal record they didn’t produce. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stock aitken and waterman to the Jam Going Underground. Today, still unwanted by the mainstream media, they survive as bloggers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire… the AW-Team
John Martyn swore by Ravel’s Bolero.
As I remember did Bo Derek’s character in 10. One imagines that John, at least once he was past his cherubic youth, needed more help with seduction than Bo Derek ever did.
First time I saw her
I wanted more than just to hold her
I wanted to bend her and to fold her
So I went over and I told her
(I’m With Her -Ryland (Under The Apple Tree)
Exquisite.
I’ve seen the three of them perform twice under the I’m With Her moniker, and they are extraordinarily, extravagantly talented; almost beyond belief, the sum is even greater than the parts.
The clock just turned twelve, so I feel duty-bound to mention Ms Muldaur….
Is there any chap who can resist a Finnish lass who turns it up to 11?

Completely agree. Garrett’s guitar on that track is exquisite,
It felt a bit of cliché to post Maria, but she deserves all the praise.
What a little temptress she could be!
Never heard of the Stalingrad cowgirls but will be investigating! Thanks!
For best results turn ‘safe search’ off.
Sadly @bobness, they called it a day, after just a couple of years in 2012 “smiling through the tears.”

Respect!
Not exactly seduction, given what she’s saying, but certainly seductive.

On that basis…this voice could melt a stone heart…
There’s nothing more seductive than breakfast.
If music be the love of food, give me some edible double crotchet knickers and a ‘minim’al chocolate bra set.
Whither the bacon G-string?
In this heat, I wouldn’t be surprised. Streaky Bach, I hope.
Streaky Bach plastic…
Eww! I pity the perineum that is garrotted by such a gusset
^ worst Mister T impression ever.

That’s what you think.
This machine is hummin’.
Brings to mind a group conversation about best “romantic” songs and one of our number said (immediately) – “The theme from Hawaii 5-0”.
“F*** em, Danno”
I believe one Valentines Day public survey for most romantic song, elected The Ace of Spades.
Worked pour moi
Let’s hope it’s not covid under the skin.
This is quite erotic.
I hope she’s got hand-san.
Too obvious?
No, not too obvious. It’s quite sweet and open and vulnerable. I like it.
Saw Mary C a couple of years back and she not only played this but also a spine-tingling cover of Love Will Tear Us Apart
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=m9W-u3xl_0Q
I always liked her cover of Heartbreak Hotel.

I wonder if this was the song that inspired Hugh Laurie. Sorry, but that’s what I was reminded of.
This might be clichéd and designed specifically for titillation, but I do find it a genuine turn-on.

And it’s all over in 5 minutes …
If you insist, Madge – it’s quite (self-) centred at the moment, but if I just squeeze it out to the margins of your shoulder-padded box jacket, it should be justified (but not ancient, of course).
Seduction has many faces…..

Thanks, Sal. Rather a good score for me. I completely agree. Restraint and understatement win every time.
Like the lovely Holly Golightly, who was clearly a keen follower of Bert Weedon.
Staying in Movieland, the chemistry between Dennis Quaid and Ellen Barkin in Jim McBride’s The Big Easy from 1986 is stupendous.
This song sums it up. I didn’t know he’d done a live version with the Neville Brothers and Bonnie Raitt.
The little tinker seems to have Miss Bonnie under his spell too. What did he whispers in her ear?
Now there’s a NOLA party that I have no wish to leave. Come on Aaron! Tell it like it is!
The smile on Bonnie’s face says it all. What a joy to play with musicians like these!

The Walrus of Lurve will see you now…
You beat me to it! Hahaha.
Used in the opening episode of Mindhunter Season 2, which says a great deal about the song’s powers of seduction…
A song about an inflatable doll, not an obvious choice as a song of seduction!
No!!!! Surely not. I thought it was about blowing up a kilo to lie on.
Ca Va by Slapp Happy
(all of it)
Powerful stuff, indeed…
Love Me Love My Dog. I’m allergic but it can be effective.

So that was the reason Howard Devoto left to form Magazine …
That was quite extraordinary. I wonder how often the two Shelleys got confused.
If I was the pooch in that clip I’d be thinking “What do I get? What do I get??”
@Kaisfatdad
Probably not that often really.
There was Pete from Buzzcocks and Pete the giant cock
