My birthday on Jan 20th coincides with the unhappy inauguration of Trump this year, and it seems like music for it will be thin on the ground, musicians being understandably reluctant to take part. Caitlin Moran in The Times yesterday said it could come down to the entire inauguration concert consisting of Ted Nugent, Charlie Sheen and Hulk Hogan playing kazoos. So I think we should make a Trump Playlist and an automated giant jukebox could pump out appropriate music.
So far I have:
From Russia With Love – Matt Monro
In A World of Make Believe (where Donald seems to live) – Dusty Springfield
Desperate and Depressed – Margo Price (how half of the US electorate is currently feeling)
China In My Hand – T’Pau (what Donald thinks he can achieve)
Gold – Spandau Ballet (his favourite building material)
Don’t Fence Me In – Ella Fitzgerald (A message from Mexico)
Any more?!

Dylan – Ballad of a Thin Man
Ballad of a Thin-Haired Man, shorely?
Aimee Mann:: You’re With Stupid Now
We Are All Gonna Die – Dawes
Off she went with a Trumpety Trump…..
second posting in 2 days and could easily cross ref to @Bladderman thread
On the basis that the US Intelligence service apparently know shit:-
Sparks got a song for most eventualities
The Redskins – Bring It Down (This Insane Thing)
(Poverty)
(Eat the Rich)
Well, this one’s always appropriate:
Nuclear War by Yo La Tengo
Failing that Roger Waters could perform The Wall again…
Wall, wasn’t that downgraded to a fence (or possibly a piece of string)
As Mr Trump is so keen about coal, 16 Tons is an obvious choice. We’ve all heard Tennessee Ernie Ford’s version, so here is a funky Brazilian cover by Noriel Vilela

I’d go for The Redskins again. The song could have been made for them.
The Jayhawks – Sound Of Lies
No doubt one of his “advisors” will be able to translate for him.
“What Are We Gonna Do Now?”
Clash – Clampdown

Green Day – American Idiot
Barry Maguire – Eve Of Destruction
12:11 Great minds….
This is about the only song here with a vague chance of being actually played at the inagueration ball. Seriously good rockin’ (OOAA) from what could only be described as “a tool”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IHs1dLXLz_M
Chuck Prophet – Smallest Man In The World.
The Washington Post got it right yesterday in their “The Week in One Song” post – they chose a Peel session of The Fall’s “The War Against Intelligence”

This one. I hear it’s lonely at the top…
When I first came to Manhattan
I was not surprised
The stories people had told me
Turned out to be no lies
…and I *think* Madonna’s first performance gig was as a dancer for the ILAH. She could dust off her leotard and do a few twirls for the Don, surely.
then again….

Skip Spence – Little Hands
A cracking song from Dr John, U Lie 2 Much. Also a tape loop of Victor Meldrew repeating “I don’t believe it” would be fitting.
You’re So Vain (no, not that version)
Sting has been turning up at the opening of an envelope to promote his new album so I’m sure he’d be game to play, and this one would be a shoo-in
I win!

Anything by A Flock of Seagulls.
