This documentary covering the making of the Wildflowers album has been released to youtube after it had a limited cinema release for a day recently. Not sure that there’s anything radically new here but it’s Tom Petty and it’s Wildflowers so that’s a good thing right. Anyway if you like TP and who doesn’t then this is a pleasant way to spend 90 minutes.

Gis a link old son!
You’re quite right I should have included a link, here you go @VulpesVulpes
Ta mate!
This is definitely a YouTube video where 4K Downloader is your friend (it even downloads in 5.1)
And rather good it is too.
That`s my iPad viewing sorted at bedtime tonight.
Petty on smack at the time
Horrible thing to say, but smack has a pretty good rock’n’roll pedigree:
John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band
The Magical World of the Strands (and probably HMS Fable and Waterpistol)
Keef R in the 70s (a lot of good music…)
Blonde on Blonde / Dylan’s 1966 tour (allegedly)
Some twerp called Charlie Parker
….there will be more.
Wasn’t Lennon off smack when he made POB? He was certainly on it during Let it Be and maybe Abbey Road and his contributions were limited
Yeah, I was kind of alluding to this when I said there was nothing radically new here. The footage is new but its family approved and doesn’t go into any ‘darker’ territories.
Not sure whether that’s a problem here, love TP, love Wildflowers and its an enjoyable 90 mins. Akin to those making of album shows which I suppose it is, in support of the box set.
I’d love to know more about the songwriting process etc. But not sure I need the inside track on anyones drug habits for the sake of drug talk at this point. Ive read the Motley Crue and Warren Zevon books! How it affected the songs well that’s another matter…….
I suspect that no one close wants to glamourise it (the drugs) but I also suspect there’s an unauthorised biography to be had at some point. Not sure who would talk though.
Yes, not going to affect things necessarily negativity. I haven’t seen it but some who have pointed out that he appears well out of it. And drug addiction eventually killed him it would appear
Hi @Dai I’ve seen some comments on Steve Hoffman to that effect but was dual screening so didn’t notice.
Not sure what people want though in respect of the drugs. As this comes from the family they’re unlikely to do anything to detract from the ‘public image’.
The upside is that it’s on YouTube for free so anyone with a passing interest can take a look and the music is sublime.
