As ever and reliably late to the game, I have been exploring some of the psychedelier end of dance musics, especially where it laps onto the waves of world exotica, so it’s been Loop Guru, Dub Trees and the like. In this case the like is Shponge, who, whilst I was reading the sleeve notes revealed a name I recognised. Yes, Rama Ram, and the same ex-Quintessance flute-tooter, Rama Ram. And rather engaging it is all and I consider myself well Shpongled. So, Colin H, your task should you take it………

Did you catch Ott on the last night of Bearded Theory, retro? He has some Shpongle affiliation, and was excellent, a really good way to finish the festival.
No, I made a quick get away after Squeeze. I only learnt about Ott in my researches recently. I did catch the Loop Guru set but at 2pm or similar, with nowt but my breakfast in me, it seemed a bit wrong. The ones I missed whom I regret were NiteWorks, immediately before said LG set, bagpipe techno frenzy (or mild agitation, if I’m honest, but right up my street on record)
