I’m not sure what the protocol is for starting this thread, and sorry if I’m a bit early. I do recall @Hannah used to kick it off but she’s mostly absent from here these days (more’s the pity), so Hannah please let us know how you’ve gone this year! And everyone else of course.
My year was bookended with a couple of momentous events. It began with the birth of our first grandchild on January 2nd, so the wee lad is coming up for his first birthday in a few days. Sadly the year ended with the passing of one of my best mates, a songwriting partner and close friend who I’d known for over forty years. We wrote a bunch of what became hugely popular and successful children’s songs, here on the other side of the world in Australia. RIP Arthur…
In amongst these major events I somehow survived. My contract job with the national broadcaster continued, and looks like it will next year, albeit with less work than usual. Mrs M had a successful year with her PhD (ie, getting the big tick to continue), and next year will continue with her own part time job.
Daughter No 1 lives round the corner so we see Grandchild No 1 regularly which is such a blessing. Our son lives in Berlin making beats (link attached) and surviving on the smell of an oily rag. Daughter No 2 will work out what she wants to do this year (we hope), in the meantime we love having her here with us.
I still keep in touch here, posting irregularly. It’s something of a lifesaver, to check in and read everyone’s stuff.
All the best for 2020 everyone!
