Donovan invented India
And Sky Arts. And 3am.
And Sundays
And baked beans.
Let’s cut to the chase. In the beginning Donovan created the heavens and the earth.
Here’s the proof.
So are we allowed to post pornographic images on the AW now then? Or does the minute nature that gentleman’s genital tackle render it inoffensive?
And while we’re on the subject of Van Gogh, I’ve been extensively researching and studying and learning how to pronounce his name correctly. It’s actually pronounced “Van Hhoakcghh”.
Hurdy Van Goghy Man, surely?
Saw Donovan at Green Man Festival about 15 years ago and he actually went into a Jamaican accent at one point when telling a somewhat rambling anecdote. Truly toe curling.
By the way, he invented festivals.
He invented Jamaican’s, which is why he is allowed the accent.
At least he got to the end of the anecdote – I went to an interview session he did earlier in the day and he got halfway through a number of stories before stopping and saying ‘if you want to hear the rest of the story you’ll have to come tonight’.
I thought we called him DONOVAN?
Still offloading things (50 books, 15 CDs so far… no rush) and I’ve had my eye on DONOVAN’s eight or so CDs for a while now.
Thing is, if I want to listen to folk I’ll listen to Bert Jansch, John Renbourn, Dylan, of course, and if I want to listen to pop (which I do, often), I’ll listen to the Beatles, Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly… DONOVAN seems to completely fall in between the cracks.
Might keep the debut album and possibly Open Road…
