I have now upgraded the site to support (and enforce) https (TLS/SSL) access. This means that all activity on and within the site is being done using https:// prefixed urls/links. This is better for performance, security and SEO as Google will downgrade non https based web sites.
You may notice some display issues because of style sheets not being loaded via old cached insecure links so if you get problems try the following steps to resolve the issue:-
1) Refresh the page in your web browser
2) Clear your browser cache
3) Close and re-open your web browser
Please comment under this post if none of the above works for you specifying what device you are using (phone/tablet/desktop etc) and what web browser and operating system you are using and I’ll look into the problem.
Thanks

As the Baron once said..
“From that fateful day when stinking bits of slime first crawled from the sea and shouted to the cold stars, ‘I am man!’, our greatest dread has always been the knowledge of our mortality … and using insecure web sites.
But tomorrow, we shall hurl the gauntlet of science into the frightful face of http:// itself. Tomorrow, we shall ascend into the heavens with https:// We shall mock the earthquake. We shall command the thunders, and penetrate into the very womb of impervious nature herself.. Unless something goes wrong of course..”

I do not understand a single word of your post. But I do really appreciate that you are putting a lot of hard work into something important. And when your work is done, it will enable me to spread the new about smooth Swedish jazz to millions of hipsters across the planet.
A beer is waiting for you next time you come to Stockholm.
Many thanks!

For those who think that “clearing your cache” means finally binning all those Bay City Roller 12″ singles you’ve had hidden in the loft, hedging for a financial windfall in the unlikely event of a revivial, that’s not what it means.
In your browser, press “Ctrl”, keep it pressed, and then press F5 as well. That’ll do it.

All seems to be working, Rich.
I had to click something about Mixed Content to stop an annoying prompt (IE11, Win7).
Thanks for all your graft.

Something’s already done – I am writing this securely from https:
rich says
@fentonsteve – Mini is right I haven’t switched it yet as I have to wait till the hosting provider support guy is available.. around 12:30 – 1:00 today
You’re right that https support is available but I haven’t made the site use it yet – so you can enter https:// in front of the URL but until the site has been converted you will get some warnings and you will drop back to http:// once you’ve clicked a link or two..
Hope that makes sense!

Thanks for your time and dedication @rich, err, what was it all about?
No need to answer really, I still probably wouldn’t understand, but like I said, thanks.
Edit: Why isn’t the right hand column (recently updated, most comments etc) displayed any more?
rich says
@andyourbirdcansing – can you give me more details on the missing RHS side panels? What browser/device etc etc are you are using — I can see them all fine.
Regarding the update – using https:// prefixed links (and enforcing https:// with all requests) is preferred over http:// for security, performance and search engine optimisation.
When you access a non-secure http:// based web site your web browser (Chrome/Firefox/IE etc) should show you an ‘insecure’ warning in the address bar and other warnings may also appear. In reality the whole web is moving over to https:// so http:// will become obsolete and marginalised one day.
Here is a page that explains it in more detail if you’re interested – https://www.brightlocal.com/2017/01/06/http-vs-https-website/

No side panels on my iPad. I’m pretty sure they were there before.

Aah, just seen that, on a thread like this, they are at the bottom of the page. As you were.

Hi @rich, @niallb‘s found them.
