Share your Spotify Playlists

One of the joys of Spotify is creating a hand-made playlist (I’m not talking about grabbing Fleetwood Mac’s Greatest Hits for example and sticking it in a playlist). I’m sure it’s been done here before but how about sharing some of your favourite personal creations? Here’s mine, called Mellow 1 and designed as a party/dinner party playlist. It’s meant to be played sequentially.
I’ll try and share some more but how about yours?

  2. Here are 90 songs I loved in the 90s. The playlist rules were only one song from each artist and I had to like it at the time, not in retrospect.

    • Thanks DrJ. Just the kind of thing I had in mind, ie something that will get me to listen to music I might otherwise have missed.

  7. You could do worse (IMHO) than having a listen to the Fifty Best Tracks Of The Year So Far playlist I lashed together in a fairly unscientific manner this afternoon. Ranges from Norwegian indiepunk through US neohardcore to Scottish grime, with stops in Japan, Mali and elsewhere for good measure.

      • Well fair play to you for giving something new a try. He says while trying – and failing dismally – not to sound patronising.

        Least I can do is give you one a listen then, though I have to admit the word “mellow” on it’s own gives me a feeling of foreboding.

  8. For the last few years I’ve started a Playlist in January of things that are new, or new to me, that year. I usually end up listening to them more than anything else throughout the year. This is the 2016 version.

  9. I’m also fascinated with Spotify’s play count where you can see what an artist’s most popular – and least popular – songs are. This is a compilation of the least played song on each of Bruce Springsteen’s studio albums. It starts off ok – but you may struggle to get to the end!

      I do love an epic playlist like this that I can really get lost in. It makes my four hour list of Finnish accordion music feel very short.

    • I used to do something similar with a ten track playlist which – in my head – was what I’d play that week on my imaginary one-hour radio show that some misguided soul at 6music had seen fit to give me on a Saturday afternoon, but that was actually just something to listen to while plodding around the local Waitrose at that time 🙂

      I did create a Twitter ID that I used to post a link each week, but despite a few re-tweets from featured artists, it never really – unsurprisingly – “found an audience”. But I enjoyed doing it.

      Anyway, the last iteration (which is atypically heavy on the electronics, and so probably not very AW friendly either) is still up here:

  45. Well, to avoid any ‘curating’ on my part, here’s my latest Discover Weekly playlist, which I’ve been quietly impressed with (I don’t mean my impeccable taste, more the functionality of the algorithm throwing up pleasing selections…)

  47. This one’s probably more AW-friendly than the other one I posted.

    It’s something I put together to soundtrack driving across the desert in California a couple of years ago, being full of the sort of MOR / Soft Rock nonsense that I wouldn’t be caught dead listening to normally, but that fitted the environment and provoked a lot singing along at stupid volumes. It’s been tweaked a bit since, but most of it dates back to that trip.
