He’s coming to Worthing too. Not very rock and roll really, although there’s a lady I’ve seen on the seafront here who looks to be in her early 60s, short grey hair, sedately riding one of those Dutch style bikes, wearing a Stiff Little Fingers T shirt, so maybe it’s cool here after all.*
It takes a long time to get anywhere from here. Looks ok on the map but roads and rail aren’t that great plus Worthing has one of the worst bottlenecks on a major road (A27). I doubt they’ll have sorted it by the time I retire in ten years.
If nothing else, Danny Boyle has got a chunk of free his profile advertising for the series. Potentially increasing sales and residuals, and more income for each of them.
A Swindle? I wonder if lawyers fees have been offset against the promotion budget.
Shades of the Morrissey/Smiths court case of a few years back.
Anyone else here read Steve Jones’ autobiog on which DB’s series is based?
As the book provides a far from flattering picture of JL (out and out control freakery and alcohol-fuelled unpleasantness being just two of SJ’s biggest gripes) it’s easy to see why our Johnny is so keen to “reclaim control of the narrative” by scuppering the series.
Lonely Boy is surprisingly good read & Jones is very honest about his utterly amoral youth, his gratitude to Malcolm & his admiration for Lydon’s songwriting.
He’s also very direct about what dreadful company Lydon is, & how every ‘reunion’ quickly degenerated into Lydon being a miserable, pissed misanthrope ( who obviously feels as an artist he’s shouldn’t have to demean himself with such shitty company).
I get the feeling he’s become just another ageing drunk, albeit one who once had a real edge. His snide side once manifested itself in brutal honesty, often hilariously, but now it’s just control freakery & MAGA hats.

And that this verdict would be on the lunchtime BBC Radio 4 news.
Lydon’s going to have to do some more butter adverts now.

You have to leapfrog over Portslade to get here though.

Doesn’t this mean he will earn some royalties? I think a quarter for each song. He just objected to them being used at all.

Would imagine his lawyers’ bills will be pretty hefty – even heftier if the judge orders him to pay everyone else’s costs as well

I think he just wanted to scupper the series, he will earn a fair amount from it nevertheless I suspect
