Hours and hours of fun with this website
It attempts to show every gig that there has ever been !!
I have tested it out about half a dozen times and it hasn’t let me down yet ranging from Jethro Tull in 1969 to the last Joe Jackson concert I went to which was June 19th 2008 at the Bridgewater Hall.
The app records all the gigs that you have attended into your very own list showing the setlist for each one.
This is a real test for your memory if you don’t keep the ticket stubs.
As an avid maker of lists, here is what I have made so far ( hundreds more to go if I can remember them all ) :
Apr 14, 2019: Art Garfunkel, The Lowry, Salford, England
Jul 8, 2018: Eric Clapton, British Summer Time 2018
Apr 1, 2018: Steven Wilson, The Bridgewater Hall, Manchester, England
Jul 9, 2017: Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, British Summer Time 2017
Apr 10, 2016: Jeff Lynne’s ELO, Manchester Arena, Manchester, England
Dec 10, 2014: Foo Fighters, Cape Town Stadium, Cape Town, South Africa
Jun 19, 2008: Joe Jackson, The Bridgewater Hall, Manchester, England
Jun 13, 1998: Jack Bruce, Stockport Rugby Union Football Club, Stockport, England
Feb 18, 1974: Electric Light Orchestra, Free Trade Hall, Manchester, England
Mar 28, 1972: Jethro Tull, Free Trade Hall, Manchester, England
Oct 2, 1969: Jethro Tull, Free Trade Hall, Manchester, England
SteveT says
Was at that Ton Petty gig too – hard to think it was his last ever show in the UK.
Paul Wad says
Whereas I was at the Jeff Lynne’s ELO gig.
retropath2 says
Well whilst it didn’t show Chilli Willi & the Red Hot Peppers at Hove Town Hall, supported by Kilburn & the High Roads, it told me it was Feb 22 1975 I saw them at Winter Gardens Eastbourne On the Naughty Rhythms tour. Impressed if no set list recorded. I can’t remember either, to be fair.
John Walters says
If you can remember any of the set, the app invites you to fill in any gaps.
Jaygee says
If you can remember any of the set you weren’t really there
John Walters says
Anyone spotted the Jack Bruce entry yet ?
Stockport Rugby Club 1998.
Incredible huh ?
retropath2 says
I’ve just signed up and can see where today is heading……. It even more fun finding the ones they have got than the ones they haven’t.
dai says
Been using it for years, I have an account and all gigs that are in there and I remember going to are recorded, user name “dai62” if you have nothing better to do. 350 gigs of mine are in there, which is incomplete but all I can remember that I have found. Pretty good from 2000 to present day I think for my stuff. Many missing from 80s and 90s and some from 2000s.
It is not infallible though, depends on data that gig goers have put in there and is sometimes incorrect. Have inputted a fair amount of data myself and corrected others or been corrected.
The main thing that annoys me is the album breakdowns of setlist. It is fine if the artists name is the same as the person who made the album. However if you go and see, say, Paul McCartney then every Beatles or Wings song he plays is listed as a “cover”, which is a bit ridiculous. It’s all done automatically from some sort of database, an improvement would be to have solo artists listed along with the bands that they were in so they can match up.
A decent resource nevertheless.
bobness says
When I get 5 minutes I’m going to try and get a setlist recorded for all the gigs I can remember going to.
Setlistfm is a decent resource yes, but IQ at Rock City in 1985 is sadly not recorded for posterity. What it does show is a setlist for earlier that tour, which I’d say is pretty good for what I can remember. Basically, all of The Wake and Corners last. I was front row, when you could actually get to lean on the actual stage at Rock City. The monitor wedge kept blowing the actual paper set list off the actual speaker. Weird what you remember.
Arthur Cowslip says
This is really good. Had a wee go this afternoon selecting all the gigs I can remember. But it’s frustrating the ones that are missing – I would add them if i could remember the exact dates and venues. I have seen Bert Jansch a couple of times, but his gig list is very sparse. The Beta Band as well, and the Unthanks. And I can absolutely remember seeing The Divine Comedy in Edinburgh in 2000 or 2001 but neither appear. There are no problems with the big hitters like Macca and Paul Simon!
Arthur Cowslip says
This makes me wonder if it possible to do a kind of “six degrees of separation” in the Afterword for gigs. I mean, link yourself to another Afterword member by gigs you have been to – how many degrees of separation would there be? And how many Afterword colleagues have zero degrees of separation, ie were at the same gig together?
colrow26 says
Great idea, which concert had the most Afterworders in attendance??
I can confirm I was at the Joe Jackson gig at Bridgewater Hall in 2008, same as @johnwalters…
mikethep says
Well I’m willing to be that nobody else round here was at the Southend Odeon on 9/4/61 to see the Are You Sure hitmakers The Allisons…
hubert rawlinson says
I recall that there were quite a few of us at the CSNY, The Band at Wembley Stadium September 74.
el hombre malo says
there was a thing on the old place where we listed 50 gigs and there were at least a couple of people who had been at some of my key ones (Cramps at the Apollo/Glasgow Tech, Fleshtones at Night Moves, etc).
And I know a goodly number will have been at the Lexington for a Wilko Johnson gig (a Word event) – 2010 maybe ?
colrow26 says
I signed up for Setlist.fm about 18 months ago, previously I had all concerts attended listed in excel with dates and venues, if you add yourself to a concert Setlist will notify you if anyone else edits the setlist for that concert…..my list looks like this…..

I can only give my attention to one list at a time and am currently cataloguing my vinyl collection ( 1000 +) on Discogs. Gazing at run out tracks through my magnifying glass ( such a sad git ! ).
I’ll try to list out my gigs which will run into hundreds after I’ve completed this.
That was a fab JJ gig by the way.
colrow26 says
It was! remember when he came on stage, looked around and said “its a bit up market for us this place” 🙂
duco01 says
I was at that Bunnymen gig in June 85 at the International in Manchester. It was about 300 metres from where I was living at the time.
The Bunnymen did two sets: the first was all cover versions, the second was their own material. Good gig!
dai says
I was at the Costello gig at the Royal Court in Liverpool 86, from memory I think they played nearly 3 hrs. Tremendous gig.
colrow26 says
True story (unfortunately) that Bunnymen gig in 85 was a warm up for Glastonbury, think it was only advertised a week in advance. Anyway on the day of the concert I picked up a couple of tickets from Piccadilly Records and went home for my tea. About 7.30 I thought Ill just give the venue a call see what time the Bunnymen were due on stage, phone is answered and I hear a familiar noise in the background…what time are the Bunnymen on says I…..err Now!!! Luckily I was only the other side of town so got down to see main set but always regretted seeing the covers set….
duco01 says
Even though I lived almost next door to the International, the Bunnymen started that first set so early that I missed the first number (The Modern Lovers’ “She Cracked”) and came in halfway through the second song (The Velvet Underground’s “There She Goes Again”).
dai says
Sound like a great show. Awesome live band, seen them 8 times over a nearly 30 yr period (last time 2009), would have been many more these days.
The Good Doctor says
Setlist.fm is a brilliant resource and I’ve been using it for years. Obviously it’s crowd-sourced like Discogs.com so what’s there relies on someone contributing the data.
I must confess I have used it plan a loo/bar break or whether to skip the encore and get an earlier train home when seeing a more mainstream act in a big venue – as you can usually look up previous tour dates quite soon after they happen.
dai says
I have done that too if it is a show I am not too bothered about (e.g. Cher when I went to see Chic)
Mrbellows says
Afterworders of the world unite and cream over.
Coupey says
In a similar vein I’d recommend having a look at Setify – https://setify.co/
It looks up shows on setlist.fm and turns them into Spotify playlists. I use it a lot for generating an ‘average’ setlist for bands I’m going to see who I’m not too familiar with. It’s like a kind of self selecting greatest hits compilation generator.
