The greatest sitcom of all time is 32 and what better way to celebrate than to mix the theme tune with a hit song from each year the show was on TV.
Sweet fancy Moses 🙂

Musings on the byways of popular culture
Genius.
Bravo! What a wonderful, ingenious tribute.
God, that slap bass. I always thought the Seinfeld theme ripped off My Prerogative by Bobby Brown
Slap bass was extremely dated even then. Especially as played on a DX7 – probably the worst noise in popular music.
That would be the “dooo!” of the Linn Drum
The Seinfeld slap bass came from a Korg M1 although there is old footage that shows the composer using a Kurzweil too.
from season three onwards they didnt put a foot wrong…wonderful writing and performances
Ok, I admit it. I tried Seinfeld in Series 1 and thought “nah”. Never watched it since. Do I have to go back to the very beginning (a la Buffy The Vampire Slayer) to appreciate its brilliance or is there a point I can join the Fan Club?
Nah just jump in anywhere. They were all “about nothing” anyway.
I would recommend starting with Season 4.
That season is somewhat self-contained. Early on Jerry is offered the chance to make a sitcom and he and George spend the rest of the season trying to write it. The final episode is “The Pilot” where their effort finally airs on TV.
It contains some of the best and most famous episodes
The Outing
The Contest
The Bubble Boy
To me The Bubble Boy is what sets the show apart. They meet a sick child and not only is the kid totally obnoxious but by the end of the episode they actually make him more sick. That’s the show in a nutshell.
Nobody has yet told me what episode to watch when we see some Slaying.
Season 1 gives the wrong impression. Not much like the fully realised show. Season 5 onwards is where it really takes flight. Try that era then if it doesn’t click, it’s not for you.
