Hope this doesn’t contravene site rules, but for reasons too boring to go into, I have 2 tickets for Scritti Politti in Leeds (Green’s college town, of course) that I’m unable to use next month, and hoped someone here might want to buy them from me. Green and his band will be playing Cupid & Psyche ’85 in its entirety for its (sort of) 35th anniversary, and it’s a sold out show, so should be good (I’ll be gutted to miss it, to be honest.)
Venue: Leeds City Varieties Music Hall
Date: Tuesday 28 September 2021
Location: Upper section, row A
I paid £80.88 and will accept that or nearest offer, and in case of a rush, I’ll say “first come, first served…” In the interests of full disclosure, I don’t have the actual tickets in my hands as I write, they’re due nearer the date, but I won’t need payment until I’m ready to post them. Hope that’s of interest to someone here, cheers!
PS Was anyone else here at the Word In Your Ear show at the Lexington in 2012?
I’d just double check your confirmation email if I were you. I bought my tickets to this show before moving house and when it came to informing everybody of my new address I couldn’t for the life of me remember where I got them from. I have a redirect on the post though, and that runs to the middle of September, so I thought I should be okay. But I had a little panic last week when a redirected letter took 3 weeks to get to me. After a frantic search I managed to find the confirmation email and that has the tickets attached to print out, so panic over.
I’m looking forward to this one, as I’ve never seen them before. The support act is Alexis Taylor from Hot Chip, so it should be a good night.
Thanks for the wise words Paul, I’ll be sure to cover all fronts one way or another!
And yes, should be a great gig – I think Green still has Rhodri Marsden in the band, who’s done an amazing job of recreating those songs for live performance, though this tour will be the first time they’ve done the whole album…
As much as I love Cupid & Psyche, I like Provision even more, so I wonder if he’d consider a Sparks style residency. 5 nights in Leeds, playing a different album each night? If I asked nicely?
I was at that Lexington WIYE gig.
The best of them all, in my opinion. Green was in fantastic voice, Rodri & co were spot-on and the live sound mix was probably the best I’ve ever experienced.
I am hoping to travel to the UK and be in the Leeds area around then, think that will probably be a few days early for me though 🙁
