Fresh from Jake Shears’ last solo album hitting #197 in the Belgian charts, the Scissor Sisters are back with a 10-date tour of the UK, to celebrate 20 years of their debut album (available on 20p CD in any charity shop).
Featuring Jake and, um, the other two, but not Ana Matronic, nor the drummer, nor the Goodies-adjacent touring multi-instrumentalist fella.

I think they’re a bit optimistic touring arenas without one of their main focal points.
On the other hand Alison Goldfrapp is the support. She would be the big draw for me on this package.

I bought the Jake Shears album for my wife last Christmas. It’s pretty good!

My gay magazine editor pal (lives in Brighton, natch) knows Jake of old and saw him play solo in Brighton last year. Solo touring must be financially interesting, as he’s not the kind to head out on tour in a Transit van with a spare pair of jeans and a supply of Pot Noodles. Puts on a great show, though.

I doubt that anyone’s surprised to hear that I own and love all of their albums, and the Jake Shear solo album…
Freddy Steady says
It’s good isn’t it @locust?
Locust says
Indeed, it’s so good that it’s made my stack of “CDs to listen to while cooking and/or washing up” – it takes a certain kind of joyful energy and repeatability to make it into that stack! 🙂

I heard an advert for this on the radio; they don’t use Comfortably Numb.
Is their cover of Comfortably Numb the last time that Roger and Dave of Pink Floyd agreed on something? I seem to recollect they both really liked it.
fentonsteve says
To be fair, it is really good and sounds nothing like Pink Floyd. The two things might be related!
ivan says
It is, it doesn’t, and it might.
