Venue:
Grimsby Auditorium.
Date: 01/09/2016
Some 15 months after buying the tickets, here we were waiting to see the sweet, innocent looking, potty mouthed Sarah Millican.
Continued in comments…
The audience:
Full house (sold out months ago) of a wide range of ages.
It made me think..
Appearances can be deceptive…

Fifteen months or so ago, I am mooching around online looking at venues I had been before & wondering what was coming up that may take my fancy.
I saw that Sarah Millican was playing at Grimsby auditorium on the day before my daughters birthday, about a mile down the road from where she lives, so instantly that was her birthday present sorted.
A full house buzzing with anticipation cheered wildly when she came on stage, she spoke for a couple of minutes the introduced support act Tom Allen a very funny comedian who while being very good, I was left thinking that I would have much rather have had another 20 minutes of SM rather than him, but I fully accept that I am/was being a bit churlish.
So, back she comes & we quickly found out that her “butter wouldn’t melt” image was a long way off of the mark. I have never seen or heard any comedian with a more potty mouth, that girl was filthy, & the audience lapped it up. Whether she was talking about picking up dog poo while out walking her dog (2 feelings, what a truly disgusting smell, but just the right temperature for a greggs pastie) – she had the audience howling with laughter – trouble at gigs? – Not hers, most of her audiences wore cardigans.
Quick mid session interval, then back she came, slight change of tone, a touch more personal – school bullying, body image, “lady issues” she never let up, & when the inevitable (Male natch) heckler started up she nailed him to his chair & the applause lifted the roof off.
All too soon it was over, but my wife, Daughter, Son in law & my best friends of more than 30 years all walked away wearing big stupid grins all saying how much we loved her.
Just about the best live comedian I have ever seen & cant wait for her next tour.
Absolutely marvellous.
PS – this is my first proper review – please be gentle with me…

Wonderful review, Jack. You made me feel I was there. I love Sarah too. You’ve persuaded me to look out for her next tour.

She may be the funniest comic around. I have no idea. Unfortunately, I can’t get past her horrid screechy voice. Like fingernails on a blackboard to my ears.

I cant get over how much comedians like her earn. It’s in the double figure millions.
And they’re treated by the BBC as if they’re charity workers, getting plugs on the radio every time they do a tour.
That aside, great review and glad it was enjoyed. I’m sure she’s pretty good.

Great review. Can’t say that I am a fan of her work, but nice to read the words of a happy punter.

Nice work Jack. I like the idea of putting the body of the review in the comments to get round those annoying and (frustratingly compulsory) categories. I may steal the idea myself.

I love Sarah too and tried for tickets on her most recent tour but they were completely sold out.
A top comedian for sure.

Nicely done Jack, saw her at Hammersmith on the same tour. There were a few flat moments and I’m not sure she has enough material left, having said that the highs were worth the entrance money………

Great review Jack. I’ve never heard of her so I was forced to take a look on YT. Very entertaining.
