I really don’t know what to say right now. I can’t remember a time when I had such despair – and such contempt – about our political leadership here and around the world. Jarvis was right.

He ain’t wrong!
Yes, this is certainly true. But perhaps things seem particularly bleak now because everything is portrayed as black and white – with media reports and social media posts screaming ‘you are wrong and I am right’. Think back over history and there would be many other bleak periods, which we all survived. Remember the days of Thatcher and Reagan acting in concert. That led to the Falklands war and the invasion of Grenada. Or Trump, who very nearly staged a coup. And as for war in Europe, Nato bombed Serbia for 78 days back in 1999, killing about 500 civilians. There was little outcry in the west about that. Both the US and the UK invaded Iraq. Etc.
I am no apologist for Putin and I think he is a very real danger to world peace. But I try not to get sucked into the emotional turmoil over the war in Ukraine because I cannot do anything about it. I loath Johnson, but I cannot do anything about him either. I hope against hope that Partygate gets him, because – as with Trump – I think our leaders should have some moral probity.
I am powerless over world events, but I can try to stay positive and continue to believe that, one day, calmer times will return to the world. And, perhaps, we will have better leaders.
@Munster totally agree. I am no apologist for Putin who is clearly a monster but if anyone thinks that NATO/EU are totally exempt from any responsibility then they clearly have a screw loose.

A world without politicians? They are just puppets in the West, strings pulled by the Deep State and as far as China and Russia are concerned they are run by criminals.
