Looking through some boxes I came across some rubbish gig pics I took, most from the early 80’s to early 00’s. See if you can recognise the band or singer in them, I know who they are of course, but some are so crap that it might be fun to see if you can identify them. Post your own too as I’d love to try and figure out who or what your blurry images might be.
OK, first batch of two pictured in thread, I’ve not found that many!

early 00’s at The Garage, London – the clothes they wore is a biggish clue.
Pictured at Glastonbury from a safe distance, not because she was rubbish but there had been DEATH THREATS (biggish clue)
This was even published in Q Magazine (R.I.P.) it’s at Wembley Stadium 1988 (BIG clue!)
Another Wembley Stadium gig, Black Uhuru and the J. Geils Band (“my baby was a Centerfold” went down VERY well) were two of the support bands.
Last one is The Stones. I was also there. Rained a lot.
yeah, you know it, I went with a mate with my mum that day, we all shared a big joint at one point and it lasted us the whole evening but was the last time my mum ever smoked.
Ha! I had a couple of beers probably, but generally in those days I didn’t partake much at gigs as I wanted to really concentrate on the show. There was also a tube strike, got a train to god knows where and had to walk a lot to the stadium. But I seem to remember getting out of there fairly fast at the end, stayed with my friend who was studying at the LSE, I think 4 or 5 of us on his floor. I also had my first ever McDonald’s (and root beer) on Oxford St day of the show. Happy days!
I’d completely forgotten about a tube strike but I do remember it took *hours* to get out of the car park.
Yeah, it was suggested that this could be the last time (!) as they were, like, really old?
I was at the Roundhay Park Leeds gig on the same tour. Also complete logjam and took hours to get out and across Leeds to the bus station, by which time the last bus to Manchester had long gone. Though the day was sunny (I think support was J Geils and Joe Jackson rather than Black Uhuru) the night we spent at Leeds bus station waiting for the first bus back in the morning was very cold.
It was Joe Jackson and, now you say, J.Geils. It was a great afternoon/evening. Joe Jackson was pushing the whole Night and Day album, and was superb. Can’t remember much about J. Geils, beyond the long harp solo: Whammerjammer, IIRC?
Oddly, I can’t recall the Stones that well, as other and later exposure to them must have taped over the then memory banks.
It was a fairly easy getaway too, stopping for a quick pint in Chapeltown. Wandered to see what was happening down the far end of the pub, where a crowd had gatherered, discovering an elderly stripper stretching her hips. Swift exit, not unrelated to the Yorkshire Ripper still being at large.
You’ll be pleased to know that exiting Leeds Roundhay Park after a gig was still as bad in the late 90s. The stewards were very helpful when you parked; they’d very much disappeared when the gig was over.

#4 is right
For the first one I can make out one female violinist, one singer/guitarist and a bass player. They all seem to be wearing yellow trousers. It has to be Roddie, Jane and Freddie.
it was REALLY tricky so I’ll tell you, it was Bobby Conn & band
The only one I can find at the moment is this.
However Simon Nicol did use one of my photos on his first solo album. All my stuff is packed away as we are in the process of moving so I can’t reach that.
could that be Ralph McTell?
I’m a frayed knot.
“Simon Nicol did use one of my photos on his first solo album”
I have his “Before your time . . .” LP @hubert-rawlinson so I’m guessing your pic is the one accompanying “Insult to Injury”?
Are you Self-timer or Happenchance?!
Self timer was the timer on SN’s camera. I’m happenstance it’s the onstage photo with arm mid ‘windwill’.
Nice photo @hubert-rawlinson
@peanuts-molloy Happenchance (not stance) that’s me.
Thank you.

I think the second one might be Suzanne Vega.
it is SV well spotted lol
Oh yes – one glimpse at that excellent photo, and it was clearly the Marlene on the Wall Hitmaker.
Bit of an enhance, and lens has suggested Love and Rockets.
I definitely see a violin player here on the left, did they have one…?
No idea it was a suggestion of Google lens and @Gardener has already said who they are upthread.
Is the third one MJ?
More likely the dstyge hitmaker than Bros, I’d wager.
Oi!!!!
#1. The Frank & Walters?
Is there a small cash prize?
Haha, I wish! It’s Bobby Conn – and band
Wembley 1988 – Nelson Mandela concert?
It’s, the unmistakable glow of Pink Floyd
Milton Keynes 1997
Not a clue who this is, it may be one of the smaller Glastonbury stages in the 90’s, can’t be Roxy Music?!
Does this help?
ah thank you for brightening the corners, I know who this is, he’s American
Is it that Placebo fella? I saw them at the Cambridge Junction, first album time.
it is and yes, first (best) album tour
Reading Festival early 80’s – could be anyone
